Aidshilfe Essen e.V. is the local HIV and sexual-health charity, based at Varnhorststraße 17 near the city centre. It offers HIV and STI testing, counselling on HIV, PrEP and safer sex, and support for people living with HIV. Alongside the health work it runs community groups, including trans* support and groups for older LGBTQ+ people.
Testing usually runs at set weekly times, some by appointment, so check the current schedule before you go. Counselling is available in German, and some staff may also speak English.
