Y.O.L.O (You Only Live Once) is widely described as the only dedicated gay bar on Crete. It is not in Heraklion itself but about 25 km east, at the harbour in the resort town of Hersonissos, an easy taxi or bus ride along the north coast. Expect cocktails, music, themed nights and DJ sets. It rates 4.6 on Google from about 250 reviews. It is the obvious gay night out for anyone staying between Heraklion and Malia. Don't miss this place! Great atmosphere, and Jerry (the owner) was really welcoming, friendly and always up for a chat. The music was also great, with customers able to request songs to be put on, and it was just overall a very fun and comfortable environment. You know it's good when you visit somewhere on holiday and instantly note that you should come back the next time you're in the area - you know it's great when you go back again before your holiday's even over!
