Café Wien is a Viennese-style café on level 2 of the Cita shopping centre in Playa del Inglés, Gran Canaria. It's a mainstream, gay-friendly place, not a gay venue, run around coffee and cakes baked in its own kitchen from traditional recipes. The crowd is mostly German- and Austrian-speaking visitors, and plenty of gay holidaymakers come here for an afternoon break. The Yumbo Centre, the hub of Maspalomas gay nightlife, is a few minutes' walk away, so it makes an easy daytime stop before the evening starts. Reviews are strong (4.5 from about 1,700). We stopped here for coffee in the afternoon. The service is friendly and pleasant. The cakes are homemade, and the quality and taste are excellent. The espresso is good. They also serve breakfast. The prices are reasonable. It's usually very busy in the afternoon. The sweet treat after a day at the beach is very tempting.
