Petra’s Tip Top

Perched on Seilergraben at the top edge of Zurich's Niederdorf old town, Petra’s Tip Top is a compact gay bar with zero pretension and zero interest in modern club trends. The soundtrack is strictly Schlager—the kind of German-language pop meant for shouting along after a few rounds. If you want house music, go somewhere else. The eponymous host Petra runs the room from behind the counter and occasionally performs in drag. Expect an older, mostly local crowd, though out-of-towners fit in easily enough. You'll pay standard Zurich drink prices. Doors open at 6:30pm Tuesday through Saturday. They shut at 2am on weeknights, pushing to 4am on Fridays and Saturdays. Sundays and Mondays are dark.
