Gizli Bahçe ("secret garden") is a bar on Nevizade Sokak, the lane of meyhanes and bars just off İstiklal Caddesi in Beyoğlu. It's a mainstream bar with an alternative, arty crowd, and it's known as relaxed about who comes in. It's gay-friendly, not a gay bar. It has a 3.8 Google rating from about 730 reviews, and we have no confirmed opening hours. Istanbul's authorities have banned Pride marches since 2015, so be discreet in public around Beyoğlu even though the nightlife districts are fairly relaxed. Check the bar's website or recent reviews before going.

The atmosphere and spirit of the place are nice, and the music is good, but there's a guy here named Hüseyin, I think, who's a really strange guy. A normal person would try to avoid problems in the place they're in or own, but this guy doesn't hesitate to create problems and trouble.

The old "secret garden" is gone. Tonight, an "animal" at the gate refused entry to people because they were alone. And thankfully it didn't. It shouldn't. Because this place should be gone. It lost its former value long ago. The owners need to come to their senses. My previous visit already showed what kind of place it is. Don't go. And don't take anyone there!!
