They’re baaaaaack! 🫶🏻 After more than a decade closed, this wonderful LGBTQ+ venue has reopened, completely revamped and refurbished, but still retaining its incredible atmosphere and its important place in our community’s history. With fantastic theme nights and amazing acts downstairs in the club area, a bar upstairs and a beer garden outside, it’s a brilliant place for anyone and everyone to have a magical time. Whether you’re part of our community or not, I guarantee you’ll have an amazing evening with your friends. Or your money back. Okay, that last bit isn’t true, but it makes my point. 😆 The staff are so friendly, so welcoming, and always seem to have a huge smile on their faces. The sound system is awesome. You can still hear yourself think and hold a conversation, but when the music gets going, you can get lost on the dance floor and be fully immersed in the atmosphere. The Black Cap has been part of London’s gay history since around 1965, before the 1967 change in the law. My ex-boyfriend’s uncle used to go there regularly back then and had an amazing time. Now, 60 years on, it’s back and giving us that exact same chance to make our own wonderful memories. Please go. Please try it. I can guarantee you’ll want to become a regular. Thank you, and enjoy!

Glad to see this place finally reopened. Nipped in for a drink when out shopping in Camden Town. Friendly staff, nice seating indoors and on the terrace. Drinks priced similarly to other venues in the area.

Been looking for a good work spot around Camden and didn’t even realise this was an option. They have £3.50 coffee, free wifi and a gorgeous rooftop terrace!! Staff are lovely. So happy to have a queer space back in Camden!!!

I’ll start with the positives: Amazing building, beautiful refurb still even a few months down the line. Been wanting to visit for so long after hearing it was coming back. Prices pretty standard for a London pub. However, upon arriving we’re told no dogs welcome in the downstairs room. Okay… We’d been told by friends (who'd been downstairs previously, with dogs) and saw online dog friendly. Sit with friends upstairs. Go to order a drink at the upstairs bar, oh sorry we don’t have that here, go check downstairs. Okay. Not ideal since weren’t allowed to be downstairs with the dog. Had to send someone in my stead. Wanted a cocktail, told by staff they don’t know how to make it despite it being on the menu. Settle for a rum and coke. Try later on to order that same rum and coke upstairs, sorry don’t have that rum here. Not going downstairs again just for a different rum. Ended up leaving early as half the reason for going was for karaoke, which we then couldn’t do as dog wasn’t allowed in that area. Don’t understand the sheer difference in stock between the two bars in the same building. Let alone having bar staff who don’t know how to make cocktails. Overall disappointed with the experience… Happy to have finally visited but honestly don’t know if I’d come back.

It's finally reopened after a decade close, there's a lot of LGBTQ+ history in there and you meet all sorts of people, I love it.

Thought I was going to a hat shop. Some gay man called Rafa told me it was a gay bar. Legend that guy. Then this guy called Rufus mogged me and felt obliged to give 5/5

£10 entry per person even if your friends are upstairs smoking. No flexibility 5-10 minutes after the cut off. Ruined my 30th birthday as split my group up into those who were in the room to get a stamp, and those who were upstairs and had to pay £10. I asked twice about making an exception and besides the circumstances of our delay the concierge wasn’t interested.
