We’ve been staying here since Friday, 18/09/2026. Upon arrival, we checked into our Signature King Room on the 7th floor. Despite specifically mentioning to reception several times that we wanted a quiet room, we were allocated a disabled-accessible room on a floor where we could immediately hear significant banging and noise from the family in the room above us.
Upon arrival, we had a whoosh of smelly air almost as if we entered a public loo in the lobby. We also noticed that there was a partition, behind the partition we saw a mop, a cloth & when we looked up there was a leak on the ceiling that happened previously & they sealed it up ever so faintly.
Within approximately 5 minutes of checking in, we contacted reception to complain about the noise. On top of that, we noticed strange stains on the pillow and bedding, which immediately raised concerns about the cleanliness of the room.
We went straight back downstairs to report both issues. Rather than immediately addressing the problem, the receptionist’s first question was, “How long were you in the room for?”
We had been in the room for no more than 20 minutes. We had travelled from Birmingham to Milton Keynes, were exhausted from the journey, and had been looking forward to staying here because the hotel looked impressive. Instead, within minutes of arriving, we were dealing with noise complaints and questionable stains on our bedding.
We asked whether we could be upgraded given the circumstances, but this was refused. We were eventually moved to a room on the 5th floor, which appeared to be an attempt to resolve the noise issue.
Unfortunately, the problems didn’t end there.
The following day, we left the hotel for a couple of hours to explore Milton Keynes, expecting housekeeping to clean the room and change the bedding as you would reasonably expect during a hotel stay. When we returned, housekeeping had not entered the room at all.
We then contacted room service because I was experiencing stomach issues and needed some plain bread. We requested just two slices of bread. The operator agreed and said they would deliver them to our room.
An hour passed. No knock. No bread.
We called again, and the operator assured us that he would personally bring them up. Around 10 minutes later, he called back and apologised, explaining that the on-duty manager had refused to allow room service to provide two slices of bread due to “health and safety” reasons.
Apparently, the bread could only be delivered if there was filling in it.
That explanation makes absolutely no sense. If there is supposedly a health and safety issue with delivering two plain slices of bread, how does adding filling suddenly make it acceptable?
For a hotel advertising itself as 4-star, the level of service we’ve experienced has been extremely disappointing. From being placed in a noisy room despite specifically requesting a quiet floor, to finding stains on the bedding, having to change rooms, returning to an uncleaned room, and then being refused two slices of plain bread after being promised room service, this has been one frustration after another.
4-star hotel? It certainly hasn’t felt like one during our stay.
We travelled from Birmingham expecting a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Instead, we’ve spent a significant amount of our time dealing with issues that should never have occurred in the first place.
Very, very disappointed.
If you’re considering staying here, I’d seriously reconsider where you’re spending your money. In our experience, the service we’ve received has been nowhere near what we’d expect from a 4-star hotel.
