Boringdon Hall Hotel & Spa

Lovely venue but unfortunately not a 5 star experience at all. The staffing really let down the hotel, they need a lot of training and investment if you want to be known as a luxury hotel and spa. Pros ---------- Massage and masseuse (Magda) was really lovely Room very spacious and well equipped with fridge and biscuits Nice spa facilities with 4 thermal rooms Secret bar is really cool but had one staff member gloomily tapping away at a laptop, bringing the vibe down a bit, do you not have offices? Front of house amazing, the ladies who checked us in and out were fantastic. Super friendly and the welcome drink was a nice touch Cons ------------ Went for an evening drink in the main hall, was acknowledged and told to sit anywhere and they'd bring a drink menu over. 10mins later - nothing. Was not particularly busy Changed to the secret bar and got a menu there. Waited 5 mins at the bar while 3 staff members walked past and didn't acknowledge us waiting to order. Later there was a lot of shouting and giggling from staff behind the bar which ended in a loud smash of multiple glasses. Fine at your local pub, not a 5 star hotel. 20mins for coffees at breakfast when only a few other tables occupied, oat cappuccino was undrinkable. Asked for a French press instead, no apology and new drink never came. Signs in spa saying towels will be removed from loungers however this never happened. At one point all loungers had towels on or were occupied so no where to sit. Staff came round to clear glasses but left towels Staff wearing outside shoes in the spa, no shoe coverings Arrived at spa reception for the first time and asked where access to the spa was. Bizarrely she said it was upstairs. Looked around up there before asking another staff member who explained it was accessible via the spa reception? No towels in the changing rooms or info on where to get them. Probably because they were on all the loungers Waited 10mins to check in for my spa massage, no one at reception Absurd prices at breakfast. In no world was that worth £30 Staff at breakfast constantly complaining to each other about 'doing managements job' and other qualms with their manager. From the sounds of it they're probably right but could be discussed on break instead. Also really odd to have your own beehives and serve a blend of EU/non EU honey at breakfast. We passed feedback to the lady checking us out who was fantastic and refunded our drinks but I still think this feedback is worth writing down and noting. It felt no more than a 3 star experience.

From the moment you arrive at Boringdon Hall Hotel, you feel like you’re stepping into something special. The atmosphere is welcoming, the surroundings are stunning, and every part of the experience is delivered with genuine care. The team at Boringdon Hall are professional, friendly, and consistently attentive. The staff make you feel valued and looked after. Their warm approach adds a personal touch to the whole stay. Dining here is a pleasure. The dishes are beautifully presented, full of flavour, and clearly prepared with skill. Breakfast, dinner, and everything in between feel like a treat. Rooms are generously sized, beautifully furnished, and extremely comfortable. The combination of luxury and homely warmth makes it easy to settle in and enjoy every moment. The hotel is genuinely dog friendly. The surroundings are ideal for walks. It’s a brilliant choice for guests travelling with pets.

We stayed 2 nights in a wellness room and enjoyed the pools and the mayflower brasserie restaurant. The hotel is beautiful, quiet and well appointed. The staff are polite, professional and helpful. The spa is extensive, easy to use and fun. Our room was lovely with a fabulous big bathroom, balcony with countryside views, and a bathtub in the bedroom. We had an evening meal in the brasserie and it was fabulous. we are vegan and they offered several creative and well prepared choices. Room service breakfast included vegan croissant and a full vegan english cooked meal. The only complaint is that the bathtub has an extractor fan above it which is automatic (senses humidity) and came on in the middle of the night even though we didn't use the bath. The room was otherwise totally quiet so the noise disturbed our sleep and there was no way to turn it off. We reported it to the hotel who promised to look into it after we left.

The hotels started to run together after a few days of coach touring, but Boringdon was a nice two-night stay with daytrips to southwest England.

One of the best hotel and spa stays we have had in recent memory. From the moment we made contact before arrival, the standard of hospitality was evident. The team were excellent in advance, the welcome and check-in were warm and seamless, and the welcome drink was a lovely touch. We were celebrating our anniversary and every request had clearly been listened to and communicated. Across every department, the team genuinely seemed invested in making our stay special, and we are enormously grateful for that. Boringdon Hall itself is exactly what you hope for from a country house estate: beautiful inside and out, very well maintained, with lovely grounds and numerous places to sit, relax and enjoy a drink. Whether in the Great Hall, the Secret Bar, on the terraces or in one of the quieter corners of the hotel, there is a real sense that the property is a destination in its own right rather than simply somewhere to stay. Our room was beautifully presented, comfortable and well equipped, and the team were always responsive whenever we needed anything. Breakfast was also excellent, with a generous continental buffet and a wide choice of hot dishes. As with the other dining venues on site, portions were plentiful and there was a refreshing sense of generosity throughout. The spa is another major highlight. It is modern, beautifully designed and exceptionally well equipped, with two pools at different temperatures, jacuzzis, steam rooms, saunas and a lovely outdoor terrace with sun loungers. The spa team were fantastic, showing us around, providing everything we needed and making the experience effortless. Being able to order drinks directly from your lounger was another very welcome touch. My partner had a treatment, which was excellent. Pricing is certainly at the more expensive end, but the quality was extremely high and entirely in keeping with the standard of the spa and hotel. The lifts are currently being worked on, so access to the spa involves a little more walking. There is a more direct route with several staircases, but we found the longer, more gradual route far more enjoyable. It takes you through more of the hotel and grounds, with terraces along the way where you can stop and enjoy a drink, so it actually became part of the experience rather than an inconvenience. What surprised us most was the overall value. When you consider the quality of the room, the extensive spa facilities, the setting, the food and the exceptional standard of service, Boringdon Hall represents very good value for a hotel operating at this level. We have stayed at many high-end hotels and spas, and the overall experience here was genuinely second to none. What makes Boringdon Hall particularly special is that the beautiful surroundings and excellent facilities are matched by a team who understand that genuine luxury is as much about how guests are made to feel as it is about the setting itself. A huge thank you to everyone who made our anniversary so memorable. We left thoroughly relaxed, exceptionally well looked after and already talking about when we can return. I suspect it will be very soon.

Spectacular food. Had the Teddy Bears picnic afternoon tea, one of the best I’ve ever had also the team surprised me with a birthday surprise lovely chocolates. All the food was beautiful looking especially the cakes, the savoury parts so moist & tasty, great sized scones with a variety of jams. Lovely loose leaf tea. The staff & service was brilliant very friendly & welcome. Will be back. Fantastic hospitality.

The minute we stepped into the wonderfully historic 15th century building we knew we had made the right decision. We cannot thank the attentive staff enough for such an incredible evening of food, service and atmosphere. The Michelin star meal was something to remember for ever and we are secretly having to find a good reason to come again and not too make it a extra special one off! Thank you to all the hard working staff who made our experience so lovely and special.
