Monarch Night Club, on Queen Street in downtown Fredericton, is the only dedicated LGBTQ+ club in New Brunswick's capital. It opened in 2021 and took over the role of Boom!, the city's long-running gay club that had closed the year before. Its programme is drag shows, karaoke and dance nights, and the crowd is a mixed queer and student one. We have no fixed opening hours on file. Like most small-city clubs, it is busiest on Friday and Saturday nights, and some weeknights are quiet or closed. Check the Facebook page for what's on before you go.

I never leave reviews but I went to a "drag show" on Friday. Wasn't too busy. Drag queens were very rude and abrasive and cliquey.. The tall skinny one spit on me when I asked why she was sneering at me. Better off at a straight bar if this is how they treat you at the gay one. Update: The owner answered my review and asked for more information but didn't tell me how to contact them and then argued about capacity.
