allgo

allgo is a statewide organization for queer and trans people of color in Texas, headquartered on East 6th Street in Austin. Founded in the mid-1980s, it is one of the longest-running groups of its kind in the US. Its work falls into three areas: cultural arts, supporting queer and trans artists of color; wellness, health promotion with a holistic approach; and social justice, covering advocacy and coalition-building. Visitors will most likely come across it through its public events, performances and community gatherings. It is an office and program base, not a drop-in venue, so check allgo.org for what is on before turning up.
