Fire Island Pines

Fire Island Pines, a car‑free beach community south of Long Island, is one of the US’s most famous gay summer resorts, where wooden boardwalks link mid‑century modern homes and the day is spent on the ocean beach. In the evenings, guests head to the harbor for Low Tea and High Tea, then the night shifts to club music and dancing. The place is open only from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and the July 4th and Pines Party weekends are always packed. Ferries depart from Sayville, and water taxis ferry people between the Pines and Cherry Grove. Most travelers stay in shared houses because hotel space is scarce, so book early. Bring sunscreen and cash for the bars.
