Bishop Hotel Key West (ex-Equator Resort, closed Jan 2025)

The Equator will no longer be in operation after January 2025. It has new management and the new manager doesn't want to keep it exclusively male or gay. It will turn into a regular guest inn. Too bad, it is always great to be around people who are like-minded as you are. Hopefully with the change the new managers will update and upgrade the rooms and facilities. The amenities are dated and run down. It needs new paint, furniture, sinks, faucets, and the caulk is dirty and moldy. Although the two pools and two jacuzzis are really nice, my husband did cut the bottom of his foot on a broken tile at the bottom of one of the jacuzzis. Hopefully the new managers keep the daily happy hour, as it is nice to return each afternoon to a few drinks on the house as a way to unwind from your day.

We were there 09-29 to 10-5 for our anniversary. It's been quite a while since our last visit and noticed some changes. Had an awesome stay! Our room, 28B, was the only disappointment. Horribly uncomfortable bed and very hot in the room due to the sky light and bathroom windows. Needed to put towels over the windows to try to further block the heat and keep the AC at 61. It was quiet except for the occasional noise from the hotel next door. Sadly, this is our last stay at Equator as there is ownership changes coming in January. We'll be back in 2025 and hoping the Bishop carries on the wonderful traditions of Equator Resort.

I was there September 11 until September the 14, 2024. Service was good no expectations from them this time, since starting January 2025 it will be a hotel. The bar was great. The bartender that works in the evening his service is terrible. Here was more concern about my swimming than getting me another drink.

Absolutely love this place. We've been there twice this year and are planning to go back.

Great gay men's only resort. To bad Jan 2025, it will not be a gay men's resort...

The physical property is in SERIOUS need of capital improvement and daily maintenance, just to bring it back to acceptable. There are many tiles missing from steps of one of the spas. There are numerous boards on the decking that need to be fastened down. There a large number of weeds and overgrown shrubs and plants. There was barely any hot water in the room showers. The decking and concrete are in serious need of being power washed. There are tie wraps being used to support palms growing in pots to prevent them from falling on guest's head. Just seems to be a lot of short cuts being taken, instead of actually fixing what is wrong.
