Friends of George's

Friends of George's is a Memphis theatre company that puts on drag and LGBTQ+ productions. It's based at 1705 Poplar Avenue in Midtown. Outside Memphis it's best known as the plaintiff in Friends of George's v. Mulroy, the federal challenge to Tennessee's 2023 law restricting drag performances. A district court struck the law down in 2023, but the Sixth Circuit reversed that ruling in 2024 on standing grounds. It isn't a bar and doesn't keep regular opening hours. Productions run a few times a year, so check friendsofgeorges.org for dates and tickets.
