Good Friends is a gay neighbourhood bar on Dauphine Street in the French Quarter, a block from the Bourbon Street gay corner. It's quieter and more conversational than the dance bars on Bourbon. Expect a pool table, a long bar, cheap drinks (price tier 1) and a mix of regulars and visitors. The Queen's Head Pub upstairs, a separate bar, opens on busier nights. It's listed as open around the clock. Late afternoons are good for a quiet drink, and it gets crowded on weekend nights and during Southern Decadence and Mardi Gras. It's a good base between visits to the bigger Bourbon Street bars.
