Tool Shed is a dedicated gay bar on East Sunny Dunes Road, in a small cluster of gay businesses south-east of downtown Palm Springs. It is a neighbourhood bar with a masculine, Levi and leather-leaning crowd, mostly locals and regular visitors, and a reputation for strong, cheap drinks. Expect a pool table, bar seating and theme or drink-special nights; check the website for the current schedule. It is a few minutes by car from the Arenas Road bars, and you can do both in one evening. The crowd skews older, which suits a relaxed drink more than a dance night.

The owner, Rob, made it clear that his business is only for gay, white men. Based on their social media posts, I’d say it’s not an understatement as the men they promo are only of light complexions. The general lack of inclusivity is absolutely astounding in this current world. POCs should stay clear of this place. I certainly wouldn’t spend my money at this establishment that doesn’t value me as a person with the same human rights because of the color of my skin. Shame on you. Don’t forget to vote with your wallet, folks.
