I had such a great experience getting a full STI panel here. The gentleman at the front desk was super kind, and Ana, who performed my tests, was just as wonderful. They both made me feel comfortable right away, and we even had a great conversation. The entire visit took no more than 25 minutes. Highly recommend!
Over the past two decades, I have given SAAF three separate chances, hoping that my experience would improve. Unfortunately, each time I left feeling disrespected, minimized, ignored, and unsupported. I participated in the housing program and also utilized other services, including case management, counseling, and the food pantry. While I was in the housing program, I experienced repeated violations of my tenant rights. I requested meetings with management on multiple occasions to discuss my concerns, but those requests were ignored. At no point did anyone from management contact me or invite me to discuss the issues I raised to case management. Another ongoing concern was the extremely high staff turnover. There were periods when I had seven or eight case managers within a single year, making it very difficult to build trust or maintain any semblance of continuity of care. Although I did have two excellent case managers during my three separate times at SAAF, both eventually left, and those positive experiences were outweighed by the overall negative patterns I encountered. I was also very disappointed by the lack of professionalism in the office environment. It was common (and expected) to hear staff using profanity in front of clients, which did not create a welcoming or respectful atmosphere. I still have unmet needs, but after giving this organization multiple opportunities over many years, I have too much self-respect to justify returning. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, to have their concerns acknowledged, and to receive consistent, professional support. Unfortunately, this was not my experience with SAAF.
The service was excellent, the staff excellent, my eternal gratitude to SAAF. However, they cut off my permanent assistance simply because I told an employee he had a pretty face. I said it without any ill intent to offend or attack anyone; my words were never malicious, and that cost me my assistance indefinitely. I apologized, but it wasn't enough. I asked for continued assistance, and the answer was a flat no. At that moment, I was the one who felt attacked and humiliated. Even so, I am grateful for all the help I received. They never gave me the opportunity to respond or give my side of the story. They hurt my feelings, and that hurts. Thank you for taking the time to read my comment.
Truly can’t say enough good about this organization. From working with them in the past assisting saaf employees obtain housing for saaf patients to becoming a patient when there was a lapse in my medical insurance. As someone who dreads and puts off going to the doctor I can say that feeling has lessened considerably since coming here and I plan to continue doing so. Please keep up the great work you do and thank you for your service and professionalism.
