📸 Suggest PhotosF?brica de Arte Cubano, known universally as FAC, is the most important cultural venue in contemporary Cuba and one of the most interesting arts-nightlife spaces in the world. Founded by musician X Alfonso in a converted cooking oil factory in Vedado, FAC operates simultaneously as gallery, concert hall, cinema, restaurant, fashion showroom, and club ? a model that has influenced cultural venue design internationally. The building's vast industrial spaces are filled each Thursday through Sunday night with a crowd that represents the most creative, international, and LGBTQ+-friendly segment of Havana's population. Gay Habaneros have embraced FAC as the city's most welcoming large venue, and on weekends the crowd here is visibly queer without being exclusively so. Entry requires a card that is stamped with each drink or food purchase, settled at exit ? a uniquely Cuban system. The programming is excellent: live music, film screenings, art openings, and DJ nights that cover an extraordinary range. This is not merely a tourist attraction; it is where Havana's cultural life actually happens.
