Surf & Sand Hotel Pensacola Beach, FL

Pros: good location near the beach and restaurants. Comes with kayak, bikes and breakfast. Staff super nice and welcoming. Felt safe. Bedroom have wood floors. Pet friendly, $100 for $3 nights per pet up to two pets. Parking was $10 a night. Cons: Rooms smelled musty, mold in the sink caulk. Mold in the conditioner bottle.

Great location on Pensacola Beach and backed up on the Bay. Lots of restaurants and shops are nearby, and much is in walking distance. Our room is comfortable and nicely furnished in a beach theme. Breakfast is included in the lobby each morning. Bikes, paddleboards and kayaks are free to use, but you need to sign up early in the office before they're all taken. We had to call the office about 2 small issues and staff arrived quickly and they were resolved immediately. All of the staff we've interacted with have been friendly and helpful. I would have no hesitation about highly recommending this hotel.

Friendly Staff and Good Breakfast, but Rooms are Tight. Pet Friendly!! Stayed: July 2025 We had a pleasant stay at the Surf & Sand Hotel. The highlight of our visit was definitely the staff, especially Lonny on the maintenance team. He was incredibly friendly, fun to chat with, and full of great local knowledge—it really made our day! The complimentary breakfast was also consistently good every morning, which was a great way to start the day. The one major drawback we encountered was the size of the rooms. Traveling with two adults and two children, the room felt quite small and cramped for our family. If you are a smaller party, or prioritize friendly service and a good breakfast over spacious accommodations, this is a solid choice!

This is a very cute hotel if you’re looking for something different from the big chains. We got a great deal, which is why we booked, but overall the experience felt like a budget hotel. The room had several pieces of furniture that were broken in some way, the bed was squeaky, the HVAC is *loud* and there was mold in the shower. Housekeeping comes only by request, even for a longer stay, so by day 4 our floor was pretty sandy. Free breakfast is a nice amenity, but don’t expect anything special. Aside from the fresh waffles, it’s the same not-great fare every day. All staff we interacted with were very friendly and accommodating.

Location is great but the rooms are not so great. There was mold on the walls in the bathroom and shower, as well as one of the lamps. The floor was also very dirty like it hadnt been mopped in who knows how long. I placed a bath towel on the floor to use to step out on after the shower and the bottom turned black. Let's just say I wore my sandles unless I was in bed or in the shower. Also one of the beds was broken like someone had a great night in it 😬 but the other one was fine and comfortable. Plus side though the location is great! Right across from the public beach, the staff were nice, breakfast was decent, and you get the option to take paddleboards, kayaks, bikes, so forth. It was just super windy when I visited so I was not able to enjoy those amenities. All in all the location and amenities are good (if you get to use them) just the rooms are not worth the price. The idea is there. The decor is cute and beds seemed to be clean just needs some deep cleaning and upkeep of the rest of the rooms.
