Jazzy Brick is in the Nam Phu fountain area — the small square in the heart of Vientiane surrounded by the city's most upscale restaurants and bars, frequented by embassy staff, NGO managers, and the small but significant contingent of international visitors staying in Vientiane's boutique hotels rather than guesthouses. The bar occupies an attractive two-storey space with a street-level terrace and an upper floor with a warmer, jazz-club atmosphere. Live music — typically a small jazz ensemble — plays several nights per week, providing Vientiane's most civilised evening backdrop. The cocktail programme is better than most in the city; the wine list has a short but reasonable selection. The crowd is international and mixed: embassy attachés, INGO directors, NGO field workers, and travellers who have graduated from the backpacker circuit. Gay-friendly in the natural way of a Vientiane international bar — no explicit identification, but entirely comfortable for LGBTQ+ visitors and part of the city's small established LGBTQ+-welcoming network. The Nam Phu location puts it within walking distance of several good restaurants for an earlier dinner.
