Soul Fam Hostel - LGBTQ+ Inclusive

After a long journey and with my luggage missing, I arrived at the hostel. Chase and his team gave me such a warm welcome, found the right positive words and made me feel at home from the very first moment, letting me know that they were there if I needed any help. The hostel is very friendly and cozy. The rooms have beautiful daylight as there are many windows and the beds are comfortable. The house in general is very cool with several floors, a kitchen, living area, outdoor area and pool. Breakfast is prepared with love and is delicious. I had a great time even though my stay was very short. If you want a place that feels like home with a traveller family, then this is the perfect hostel, small but personal and quiet in a perfect and safe location.

The evening events were something I truly cherished, they created moments where strangers became friends and where everyone felt included. Soul Fam feels like a community that accepts you exactly as you are, loves you openly, and gives you the freedom to just be. It left a mark on me in the most beautiful way. Chase carries such a calm, kind presence, and Nneka and Smilez, I absolutely adore them. They brought so much light, joy, and comfort into the space. Their warmth, encouragement, and genuine care made me feel valued and uplifted. The entire team embodies kindness, connection, and support. The hostel is clean, thoughtfully cared for, and perfectly located, close to everything you need. I would recommend Soul Fam Hostel to anyone searching for more than just a bed for the night. Dzaddy Chase 🤗and my favorite two babes, Queen Nneka😘 and Baby Smilez😘 were so amazing and welcoming. From day 1 I never felt like I'm a Joburger, but was filled with love and home warmth. Really enjoyed my stay, wish I could have extended my stay but due to other commitments couldn't. This will definitely be a norm to book when around Cape Town

I loved staying at Soul Fam. I felt super welcomed with open arms from the moment I arrived and genuinely felt the love of the Soul Fam community. This experience was heavily due to the incredible staff, especially Neka and Smilez. They truly are the soul of Soul Fam and made my stay unforgettable.

Chase and his staff are incredible. From arrival to the end of my stay, the hostel was welcoming, clean, and well run. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, making it a great place to meet people if you’re solo traveling. The rooms are comfortable, the staff are always helpful, and the location is excellent. I stayed for two weeks and genuinely enjoyed my time here; highly recommended.

I built a family in this hostel! I loved every second and every person I met. The place is safe, clean, and well organized. There are activities to help guests connect, space to store clothes and food, it’s calm, and there are only a few people per shared room. I recommend it to everyone! I’ll miss it 💙

I volunteered here for four months and would caution anyone considering it. Privacy is not respected, volunteers and guests are often gossiped about, and management is highly micromanaging. Expectations are unclear and keep expanding—you’re subtly expected to pay for events, contribute financially, and attend all activities. Many volunteers leave under pressure or negative circumstances. Proceed with caution. PS: Mo's review is 100% accurate too. EDIT: To give further detail, trans people are NOT respected here. Non-binary people will especially be misgendered repeatedly. This place really only caters to cisgender gay or questioning men. Everyone from the cleaner to the cat is gossiped about and badmouthed behind their back. Your sexuality will also be questioned, you will be laughed at and made fun of, and make sure you count every single slice of toast you eat before you get interrogated.

The place is very well located. Chase the owner is super welcoming and organised activities with the guests every evening. The place is clean and very safe for LGBTQIA + folks.

It's a spectacular place, almost like a family home, a comfortable house with plenty of space, perfect rooms, the staff is the best, everything is very well equipped, and the location is perfect, very close to the sea and within easy reach of the town center. Highly recommended.
