Telegraaf Tallinn Hotel

Good service and convenient location, good meal too.

My wife and I recently spent time at Hotel Telegraaf and had an absolutely wonderful stay. From the moment we walked in, we could tell this was a special place — it's a smaller boutique-style hotel, and that's exactly what we loved about it. The attention to detail and overall quality are evident everywhere, from the elegant rooms to the beautifully preserved historic building itself. The location could not be better. Situated right in the heart of Tallinn's Old Town, we were just steps away from Town Hall Square, charming cobblestone streets, and countless cafés and restaurants. Everything we wanted to see was within easy walking distance, which made exploring the city effortless. The spa was a fantastic added bonus. After long days of sightseeing, coming back to relax by the pool and unwind in the spa area was the perfect way to end the day. It really elevated the whole experience and set the hotel apart from other places we've stayed. Tallinn itself completely charmed us — the medieval architecture, the atmosphere, the food — and Hotel Telegraaf was the perfect home base for it all. We enjoyed every moment of our trip, and we'll definitely be back. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Tallinn who wants quality, comfort, and an unbeatable location.

I am a very long time loyal member of Marriott and the family of Marriott brands. Today is day 1 out of 2 that I am staying here in this hotel - I must say I am very disappointed with the quality of the service from this hotel . My sister and I booked 2 executive twin rooms courtyard facing and we were issued a low unit 2nd floor. It looks lovely until we realised both rooms’ air conditioner was not working. When reported to the reception at the afternoon today, Casper from reception said the maintenance engineers were working on it - but he cannot guarantee it will work. He then suggested I open the window and have a small standing fan put infront of the balcony window and to let the outdoor air come into the room. When asked if we can move room to one where the aircon is working (it is a hot summer season) , Casper told us the whole executive wing - had the Aircond system affected. He could move us to 1 grade lower which is a superior room but since only executive room sleeps 3 pax we can’t move to superior room. By the way (he also added the aircon in superior room may also be affected). 😡 I wanted to speak to the manager on duty ( Analina ) but she only works 9-5pm and is not around to address the issue faced by the customers of the entire executive wing of the hotel. When we went down in person to reception Maureen and David both had different versions of the story of the aircon and how many rooms affected. They themselves do not know which are the rooms affected. Should they not know and not sell those rooms to new guests that hasn’t booked yet?? Casper (over the phone earlier) claimed this is all beyond their control - the power tripped and affected the whole executive wing of the hotel building - David mentioned only 6-7 rooms affected but not all - when I pointed out there’s discrepancies between what Casper said and David said about how widely this is impacting the hotel Maureen then jumped in and said - it affects 90-99 % of the rooms (??). Oh dear - I wonder if I am dealing with professionals and customer service oriented team members and which one of them was telling the truth(?). They do not know when the complaint started (maybe this morning) - also the weekend the maintenance engineer don’t work (me : you mean this started over the weekend and no one is addressing it and Marriott continues selling rooms with issues with aircon??) This is truly not expected from the brand I know and trust and love all these years. I will be seeing the duty manager tomorrow and I truly hope she knows what’s going on at her hotel and I hope to hear that the hotel mgt do have control over the workings of the systems within the hotel and not leave their customers stranded in the heat with a small desk fan and leave windows open. Truly unacceptable

Disappointing until I realized it's a Marriott and I remembered my previous stay in San Sebastian at the Marriott Hotel Maria Cristina, which they also ruined. Our room with a balcony again, disgusting. They apparently, as a policy, do not maintain the balconies at their hotels and they are never cleaned. Broken glass and bird excrement is what I know to expect now on arrival and throughout.

I had the most exceptional experience at Hotel Telegraaf. From making the reservation to checking out, the entire staff went above and beyond. Special shoutout to Raino for the personal spa tour. The location is absolute perfection, right in the heart of town. The rooms are spacious and comfortable (love the passport stamped carpet!). The breakfast room is stunning and plenty of fresh options are available. The hotel itself has beautiful decor, a spa/sauna and a lobby bar with the best burrata salad. I am already recommending this hotel to my clients as a Travel Agent. Thank you to the entire Hotel Telegraaf team!

A perfect boutque hotel located in the heart of the Old Town. The hotel is elegant with excellent amenities and fabulous food and service.

The Telegraaf Hotel occupies a beautifully restored 19th‑century building that once served as Tallinn’s central telegraph office, a key communication hub through both the Imperial Russian and Soviet eras. Today, the property blends its historic character with refined boutique style, creating one of the most atmospheric stays within the Old Town. The location is outstanding: the hotel sits within the medieval Old Town, just a short walk from Town Hall Square, and only about 100 meters from the start of the pedestrian zone. This means you can arrive directly by taxi (they have permits to enter) or by Uber/Bolt, though ride‑share drivers may drop you one block away. Either way, access is easy without losing the charm of being in the historic center. Rooms are beautifully decorated, with elegant touches and excellent comfort. Suites are named after different scientists (like Morse) that helped invent the telegraph. The beds are truly fantastic, and the hotel offers a pillow menu so you can tailor your sleep. One small detail: in summer, rooms don’t get fully dark, as the curtains don’t block all daylight. However, the front desk can provide a sleep mask, which may solve the issue. Service is a highlight. The front desk team is very attentive, and the concierge is exceptionally knowledgeable and clearly passionate about his work—a pleasure to interact with. The hotel also features a full spa and an indoor pool, perfect after a day exploring Tallinn. Breakfast is served at Tchaikovsky Restaurant, an elegant space with a classic atmosphere. There is a menu for eggs prepared in different ways; none were remarkable, but they were perfectly fine. The fruit and pastry selection is good, though service could be more attentive during busy periods. Overall, Telegraaf is a very good hotel in a remarkable location, combining history, comfort, and excellent service in the heart of Tallinn’s Old Town.

This is a review for a five-star hotel. The staff simply didn't smile. At breakfast, on the first day, someone came to take our drink and menu order, but on the second day, even the staff at the entrance were absent, and the staff inside were just standing around chatting without greeting us. Even when guests arrived, they didn't make eye contact and just fiddled with the jars containing pickles and other condiments. We ordered eggs Benedict, but they didn't even ask whether we wanted ham or salmon. Furthermore, they were brewing coffee for themselves instead of serving us (there were no other guests). The food itself was average. They only said goodbye when we left the restaurant. Room amenities included a shower cap, cotton swabs, and cotton pads. No toothbrush. The view from the window was nice, and the bed was comfortable. There was no Marriott member lounge. However, I couldn't understand why it had such high ratings. I used to live in Europe and travel here often, but I've always been greeted with smiles by staff at other places. My impression is that Tallinn is best enjoyed as a day trip or at most an overnight stay.
