Thomaskeller

A really unique bar. We found it by chance on Google Maps because we wanted to grab a nightcap on Thursday evening on our way back to the hotel. We're both smokers, so the smoking wasn't a problem for us. The bartender was incredibly friendly, and we had a lovely chat with him. His girlfriend had some friends over that evening, and the atmosphere was fantastic. The ladies were also very nice to us. The beer was very reasonably priced. We weren't aware it was supposed to be a "gay bar"; I just read that in the comments, but it wouldn't have bothered us anyway. We had a great time there with good music and good conversation, and we highly recommend this bar.

I first came to Hamburg and to this bar 10 years ago and I keep on coming ten years later. When somebody says New Year's Eve, to me this means Hamburg and Thomaskeller. If you are not a fan of loud, crowded venues and prefer having a nice chat over a drink, listening to nice music and smoking, this is the place to be. There are several other bars in the area and I go there when this place is closed but for me nothing beats Thomaskeller. Thanks, Mathias and Helmut, for creating such a lovely atmosphere. Can't wait to visit again! 🙂

Always a pleasant experience. Cool bartender. Very wide selection of drinks. Reasonable prices. Interesting clientele.
