Meia Praia Dunes

The dunes behind the eastern end of Meia Praia - Lagos's long sandy beach northeast of the marina - are a long-standing, informal warm-weather gay cruising and naturist area. Activity is seasonal and busiest on summer afternoons; the most-used stretch runs among the dunes toward the golf-course end, well away from the lifeguarded family section. As in any public natural space, be discreet and respectful of other beachgoers, carry out your litter, and note that this is an unofficial, tolerated rather than a dedicated space. Portuguese law fully protects LGBTQ+ people and the area is relaxed, but common-sense caution applies, especially after dark.
