Lakes Hotel and Spa

Last minute get away and it was amazing, went in late November and they’d put the Decorations up so it all felt very festive, but the hot tube could still be used with out getting too cold between it and the room.

Lovely stay! The food at Mizumi was delicious. Our room was great – very clean! However, the best part was the staff; everyone was friendly, polite, and very accommodating. We look forward to booking again!

I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again. Our food was served soggy and cold Our bedding was stained, we thought house keeping would come and change it for us, but instead the lady who served us in the restaurant arrived at our door to change the bed instead, still in restaurant uniform. We felt this was also unfair on her and poor management. This hotel doesn’t reflect the amount of stars it claims to have. All of the dressing gowns are the same size. I did wonder why all the men in the bar by the spa looked like they were wearing mini dresses… until we arrived in our room and my husband put his on! Very tight and short on him too. Dread to think how this would make anyone pregnant, plus size or generally image conscious feel. There is no water in the room No fridge facility in the room No shower cap No tissues No note pad and pen Customer service/attitude from staff in general has been very poor. Coffee was great in the spa bar. Hot tub in the room was lovely too, but didn’t fancy the additional £10 tray charge from room service to have drinks in our hot tub. Just to note there is an additional fee of £12 for parking too. If the service reflected the 5 stars the hotel Claims to have, and none of the above was an issue, I believe a £10 tray charge could be acceptable if the service and rooms were exceptional.

If you want a hot tub on the roof fair enough but would strongly discourage anyone coming here for a welcoming valued experience. The food in the Asian restaurant is very poor (we had the soggiest haddock croquets that turned the stomach). The staff in the restaurant demanded we ordered everything in one go as we needed to leave our table to allow another sitting in 90 mins (how slow were we going to eat??. Very pushy and very rude. There were stains all over our bedding which we had to ask to be changed and the tv has been so crookedly put up that you have to lie on your side to watch it. Don’t (not that you’ll be going there) book through any reputable booking company (booking/expedia) as you’ll be stung with a “not booking direct tax” for parking. At £500 a night there is simply no value here. There is a very nice Italian restaurant down the road though that has zero to do with the hotel. Save your money go somewhere else and avoid a “lake spa and hotel tragedy”. Or sit in your bath at 40 degrees open the window and flush £500 down the toilet, at least you want have to travel that far for that.

My partner & I stayed for one night recently, the hotel itself is very nice, in a great location and the staff are generally friendly. However, we stayed in room no.2 and the room next door was housing 4 girls that seemed to be celebrating a birthday, as you can imagine, they were inconsiderately loud until around 2:00am, this really did spoil our stay! I appreciate the hotel can't control guests volumes but if 4 people book in a room you should keep the room next door free or invest in adequate sound proofing. For the price you pay for a night, this should be considered. Breakfast was really good with good quality food, the Mizumi restaurant food was also great, albeit pricey and slow service.

I stayed for one night with friends in one of the apartments attached to the pub/spa. We received a prosecco on arrival and a tour of the hotel. The spa is beautiful with two hot tubs, sauna, steam room, cold plunge, pool and rooms for treatments. The spa can be used from 12 o'clock on your day off arrival up till 1pm the day you check out. I had a full body massage and my friends had the Indian head massage. We had food and drinks in the cocktail lounge which was great but a little expensive. There was a great selection at breakfast with hot and cold options. Will definitely look to come back again for a longer stay.

We had recently been to another hotel which said it was five star and was a disappointment. However the Lakes Hotel and Spa has changed our view. From the moment we’re drive up to the barrier the welcome was warm and inviting. The reception staff Tracey and concierge Andy and Mark were great. We were early booking in but were shown the facilities and they were all spotlessly clean. Food in the main restaurant was delicious and the terrace for drinks and good was a real sun trap. The Sao was great for relaxing and a drink and you could have food in the adjoining pub in the dressing gown ( if that is your thing). We will definitely be going back. If you can afford it go for the hot tub on the balcony room, it was very decadent. We’re not posh or rich but we’re made to feel so welcome. Thanks everyone.

Beautiful view from Deck 2 minute walk into Windemere. Quiet and comfy great bars and restaurants.

My boyfriend and I have now stayed at this hotel twice once last September and again in late April and we’ve had such lovely experiences both times. On our first visit, we went for a cosy room without a hot tub and were still really impressed. This time, we decided to upgrade, and with the amazing weather, it was definitely worth it. We stayed in room 123, which was gorgeous with a great view. The roof isn’t fully enclosed, which made it perfect for sitting out in the sunshine although I imagine it might not be the best choice in winter. The upgrade really made the trip feel extra special, and even though there’s quite a price jump, we personally thought it was worth it. We did use the spa again, but not as much as last time, and honestly didn’t feel like we needed to with the hot tub. We tried Mizumi at the hotel this time. The food itself was lovely and we couldn’t fault the quality, but it is very expensive for what you get. I know it’s small plates and we expected that, but it still felt overpriced. Unfortunately, I also felt like the customer service from the Mizumi staff could’ve been a bit better, which did take away from the experience slightly. Last time, we went out into town for food and used the complimentary Bentley, which was such a nice touch and something I’d definitely recommend. Breakfast was probably the only other downside we wouldn’t bother paying extra for it again. It felt quite basic, similar to a Premier Inn, and we even overheard other guests saying the same. That said, I’d still rate the hotel 5 stars overall. These were all extras we chose, and everything else about the stay was amazing. The reception staff are really friendly, and we wouldn’t hesitate to come back or recommend it to others.

This was our third stay. Twice in the Bowness suite with hot tub room and once in the junior suite with hot tub room. Both amazing rooms but the Bowness suites are more modern and our preferred layout. Cocktails and dinner on the terrace in the sun this time over looking the lake and it had the sun all afternoon/evening. Hotel staff are always very welcoming and friendly. Food from the restaurant/cocktail bar are excellent, eaten here twice. Highly recommend and will be back again in the future.
