The Angel Hotel Guildford

Historic hotel very well located in Guildford town centre, close to the castle, market and the main high street. One of Guildford’s original coaching inns with hundreds of years of history (and reportedly ghosts which we thankfully didn’t experience!). We stayed for one night, opting for a suite. The suite was spacious with a lounge area, a separate bedroom, and a bathroom. Everything was very clean and we felt like we had more than enough space. The shower had good water pressure and we didn’t experience any noise as reported by others (other than from outside in the street - due to us having the windows open). Service was friendly, but it was quite a walk to our room as the hotel goes back a far way. Obviously, with this being an older building there was no air conditioning, so the room did feel quite warm after a sunny day but we were able to open most of the windows. My only other quibbles would be that the bed’s mattress was quite firm/hard, but we still got a good night’s sleep, and the TV’s signal was a bit patchy on some channels. The photos show the lounge area, bathroom and bedroom. I would recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Guildford, wanting a good central and historic location!

I'm deeply disappointed with my room. I booked 2 rooms for my friend and I whom are walking the North Downs Way. As soon as I got into room 212 I was immediately aware of the loud background hum from aircon units mounted on the wall outside my room. I complained to the receptionist and she was really apologetic and tried to be helpful. She even bought me a bottle of presseco as an apology gift. I returned this to reception as I really didn't want it. Apparently no other rooms were available. She promised the noise would reduce after 5pm, it hasn't. It's a lovely spacious room, just a bit noisy! The Fallen Angel night club is in the same builing. Luckily the drone of the aircon units made this less audible. Bring earplugs! Only £101.25 pppn, no breakfast and all the background noise you could ever be burdened with! Super, I won't be back!

Lovely historical hotel extremely well located

Fab service

Great historic hotel. No phones in the rooms, which i see as a safety issue. We had a suite, which was a very long walk from the entrance, but a very generous sized room. Front desk is not manned, a bit of an inconvenience.

I have just returned from a three night stay at the very centrally and conveniently located Angel Hotel in Guildford. My only regret is that I did not stay longer. I would like to thank Isabela Dumitrache for outstanding customer service. I booked from abroad and she was so charming and helpful before I arrived and whilst I was there that I will be sure to return. I have seldom seen a more hands on Manager. We came for a reunion and had a lot of us staying at the hotel. She made sure we were all comfortable and well looked after. Thank you Isabela. The suite I had was fabulous. It was bright, very clean and cosy. I loved my stay there. Thank you .

Great location and village atmosphere.

No parking but a great location

Power went out during the stay for an extended period of time. It was in winter so the heating was also off. The hotel did not apologise or address this in any way, and have ignored any email follow up

The Angel is right in the middle of town so great for going out and not having to walk far. Rooms were enormous good shower nice comfortable bed with high quality bedding. Our room.was quite a walk from reception and involved the levels and twists and turns. Very confusing. There was no bar and breakfast is in BILLS which adjoins the hotel so this is not cheap English breakfast toast and coffee £20 and no parking at all public car parks only although they were cheap £4.50 for 24 hours.

Couldnt ask for a better location within Guildford. Was immediately greeted with a smile and the offer to take my bags. The room was palatial. This is an excellent hotel, perfect for any occasion.
