Über diesen Ort The Bookish Type
The Bookish Type is an LGBTQ+ bookshop founded by women, at 77a Great George Street, near Leeds General Infirmary. It moved here in 2023 from the Merrion Centre. Everything on the shelves is queer: fiction, non-fiction, poetry, comics and zines, plus cards and badges. Second Hand Sundays and a pay-it-forward scheme raise money for grassroots LGBTQIA+ groups.
It also runs walking tours of Leeds queer history, covering the city centre, LS6 and the music and nightlife scene, which are a good way to understand the Freedom Quarter. It is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 6pm and Sunday noon to 4pm. Rated 4.8 from about 130 Google reviews.
