LGBTQ+ Organizations in Little Rock
For a city its size, Little Rock has an unusually strong network of LGBTQ+ organizations. These groups drive advocacy, provide direct services, and organize the community events that anchor queer life across central Arkansas, especially important given the state's hostile legislative climate toward LGBTQ+ and transgender residents.
Center for Artistic Revolution (CAR)
Founded in 2003, the Center for Artistic Revolution is one of Arkansas's longest-running LGBTQ+ nonprofits. Based in downtown Little Rock, CAR focuses on intersectional organizing for queer people of color, youth, and immigrant communities. It runs the Diverse Youth for Social Change (DYSC) program, the Revolución LGBTQ initiative for the Latinx community, and Safe Schools work, and it is home to the Lucille Marie Hamilton Youth Center.
Intransitive
Intransitive is a trans-led nonprofit founded in 2017 that opened Arkansas's first Transgender Community Center in Little Rock in 2021. It is the state's leading organization by and for transgender and nonbinary people, offering mutual aid, name-change and gender-marker assistance, support groups, community events, and advocacy against Arkansas's wave of anti-trans legislation.
Lucie's Place
Lucie's Place supports LGBTQ+ young adults experiencing homelessness through a downtown drop-in center, providing case management, basic needs, and a safe daytime space. It is one of the few organizations in Arkansas focused specifically on queer and trans youth housing insecurity.
Central Arkansas Pride
Central Arkansas Pride organizes the region's flagship celebration, the Central Arkansas PRIDEFest & Parade, held each October in downtown Little Rock. The organization also runs year-round events including a pageant, mixers, and community gatherings.
Metro-Wide Support
PFLAG Central Arkansas offers family and ally support across the Little Rock metro, and healthcare providers such as ARcare deliver LGBTQ+-inclusive medical services, including gender-affirming care. Together with the organizations above, they form a resource network that visitors and new residents can lean on for current, on-the-ground guidance.
