Alto Atacama Desert Lodge & Spa

Incredible hotel! Located on the outskirts of San Pedro, with breathtaking views of the orange cliffs! The rooms are spacious, and dinner and breakfast were perfect! The heated pools after a day exploring the desert were a real luxury, and the service was impeccable! Truly lovely! A hotel that deserves its stars!
Dinner with an incredible view and live music!!
After reading some of the reviews, I have to strongly disagree. I had a TOTAL opposite experience. The staff was so incredibly welcoming, they do the impossible to make you feel at home. They have humidifiers inside the room for altitude, they give you welcome drinks to help you adjust, and all their energy is clean and sustainable. Eros was AMAZING, he guided us throughout the hotel and even in the downtown area. Not a single staff member didn’t ask us if we need anything. Also, we are vegans and they made us vegan pancakes, sent their manager to us to offer us all the options!!! We were 3 people in one room. They got us an entire bed so that way we can all have our own. The views, the excursions, everything was incredible. The food was okay, but some things were great. Also the massage was nice, not extraordinary but not like how the other review said.. the lymphatic massage really brought down my inflammation, I recommend that one.
Truly a surreal experience, like staying on the moon. The hotel it’s tucked inside the mountains, which give off colors I’ve never seen anywhere else I’ve seen on the planet. The excursions were beautifully tailored, but our favorite excursion was simply walking out to the observatory at night and seeing the moon and galaxy without any light pollution. We also had the privilege of being present during a very rare thunderstorm in the desert! They were very accommodating toward our daughters and made certain everyone had a wonderful stay.
There is a separate facility called a “mineral bath,” and I was told it was similar to a hot spring, so I assumed it was part of the pool facilities and used it. After using it, I was charged a high fee. If there was an additional charge, I should have been informed in advance. I was told that the spa required an additional fee, but I was not informed that the mineral bath was also subject to an extra charge. There is a separate facility called a “mineral bath,” and I was told it was similar to an onsen (hot spring), so I thought it was part of the pool facilities and used it. I was told that the spa had an additional cost, but at no point was I informed that the mineral bath also had an additional cost.
