Bogotá Pride — Marcha LGBT+
Über dieses Event
Bogotá's Marcha del Orgullo has grown from a brave handful into one of the city's biggest public gatherings. On 28 June 1982, no more than 30 people walked from Plaza La Santamaría to Plaza de las Nieves, flanked by police. Today the main march, the Marcha Distrital de la Ciudadanía LGBTI, fills Carrera Séptima. No single group owns it: it is called by citizen collectives, with logistical backing from the district government.
The main march walks down Carrera Séptima, the old spine of the city, and ends in Plaza de Bolívar in front of Congress and the cathedral, where the speeches happen. Everything is free and on foot. Bogotá is also unusual in having several marches in the same month, which makes it a more political Pride than most: a Marcha del Sur in the working-class south, a Contramarcha that started about six years ago as a pushback against corporate and institutional Pride, and Yo Marcho Trans, focused on trans and non-binary rights. They sit inside the Festival por la Igualdad, a month of talks, parties and cultural events that bills itself as Colombia's oldest diversity festival.
The main march is held on the last Sunday of June, or close to it, and starts in the morning. At 2,600 metres, Bogotá is cool and changeable even in June: bring layers and a rain jacket, and sunscreen for the strong high-altitude sun. Chapinero is the gay district for bars and the parties after the march, and the obvious neighbourhood to book.
The 2026 march took place on Sunday, 28 June 2026, its 30th edition as a district march, from Carrera Séptima to Plaza de Bolívar, with thousands taking part. Estimates of turnout in recent years vary too widely, from 15,000 to more than 150,000, to quote one figure with confidence. The 2027 date hadn't been announced when we checked.
