The place: Oh my goodness, this place is absolutely stunning. When you approach the hotel, there's a beautiful wooden door, and once you enter the code, you’re welcomed into a cozy, inviting casa. There’s a lovely Koi Pond where I loved spending time just watching the peaceful fish swim. The public bathroom is gorgeous, far beyond what you'd expect. Inside, the hotel features an open design with a charming parlor and an apothecary that flows seamlessly into the dining area and kitchen. The modern architecture is beautiful, and the interior stays cool and refreshing—such a lovely escape from the outdoor heat. If outdoor relaxation is more your style, there are plenty of options—tables, chairs, open spaces perfect for working, reading, doing yoga, or just relaxing and hanging out. The people: Every single person working at the hotel treated us with incredible kindness and warmth. When we arrived late, our first interaction was with Chef Victor for breakfast. He was so friendly, showed us around, and gave us wonderful recommendations for exploring Puerto Rico. His love and respect for the island were so evident, and he prepared the most amazing breakfast I’ve ever had. Even though I’m not vegan, I’d happily become plant-based if Victor cooked all my meals! When Victor wasn’t in the kitchen, Rosalina served a delicious breakfast—her pancakes are simply the best I’ve ever tasted. She’s humble about her talents but is destined to become a culinary star. She also helped with housekeeping, making sure we always had fresh towels and a clean room to return to. Even when we were leaving, she wanted to ensure we had a spotless space to come back to, which touched us deeply. Tejo and Angelica worked at the front desk, radiating bright, welcoming energy. We enjoyed chatting about yoga, wellness, and healing with Tejo, who was full of local knowledge about Santurce. Angelica was incredibly helpful, offering fantastic suggestions for food, dancing, and sunrise spots, as well as the best places to experience Puerto Rico. Angelica and Rosalina took the time to write us recommendations on paper, which was so thoughtful. The yoga instructor was also lovely. Although my Spanish is limited, with my friend's help, we bonded over yoga, local cuisine, and feeling a sense of belonging. Everyone at this hotel was so genuinely kind, eager to chat, and eager to share their love for Puerto Rico. Their smiles, kindness, and willingness to help made every moment truly special.
I LOVED my stay at Casa Botanica! The whole vibe of the place is chill, serene, nature-forward. I stayed in the Urban Treehouse room, which was private, spacious, and quiet. I enjoyed the outdoor shower, the in-room hammock, the dishes, refrigerator, water kettle, french press, and dishes/cups. The room is rustic but clean and comfortable. There are even two types of pillows on the bed to accommodate different preferences. In this room, the kitchen sink is also the bathroom sink, which was fine with me but good to keep in mind! Plenty of space for all my toiletries plus my coffee, food, etc. Rooms also come with beach towels and a beach mat (if not in-room, upon request). Air conditioning worked well the entire time. Water pressure and temperature in the shower was great! There is a 24-hour beverage station with coffee, tea, almond and oat milk, glass bottles full of chilled water, and bottles of wine and beer (for a charge). NO PLASTIC!! Hotel staff prepare a delicious vegan breakfast & fresh juice upon request from 9-11 every morning. I'm not vegan but I loved what was served each day. So delicious, nourishing, and fresh! Staff were kind and helpful, sharing many recommendations for local sites, restaurants, stores, etc. I never made it up in time for morning yoga but that's another plus. The only problem with this place is that you might find yourself wanting to skip sightseeing and just relax onsite most of the day. :) I was sad to leave this gem of a hotel and will definitely return when I'm back in PR. Gracias a todos por una experiencia excelente y unica! Mi sistema nerviosa se acalmo mucho durante mi visita.
I enjoyed staying at this location. Everything is beautiful about the property. It’s so close to the beach and all the staff are very polite and helpful. The complimentary tea and coffee are delicious and the breakfast was delicious every morning. I stayed in the vintage treehouse which is small but beautiful. The only access is a spiral staircase so keep that in mind for any physical limitations. Other feedback: the stools on the deck were rusty so you couldn’t really sit on them. I would also suggest some actual chairs vs stools. The toilet is inside but the sink is outside, a small sink inside would’ve been nice. Also there is a crack on the floor and a crack in the lamp hanging from the ceiling. During heavy rain, there was some leaking from the wall closest to the door. Besides these structural complaints, everything was great.
I attempted to take a yoga class here as a walk-in, as they highlight that as being an option on their website. Unfortunately, while the class starts at 8, their front desk staff doesn't arrive until 8 ...past the start time. And even after waiting around for a few minutes after 8, no one answered the front door. I was looking forward to yoga and breakfast here, but unfortunately, I wasn't able to try either. Do not come here for either of those options, as based on my experience, no one will be there to assist you.
I recently stayed at Casa Botanica for busine reasons and loved the experience so much that I kept coming back even after my stay. I love that they welcome walk-ins, so now I occasionally go to the yoga class and enjoy their healthy vegan brunch in such a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The location near the beach, airport, and Old San Juan makes it even better. Such a beautiful little reset spot filled with beautiful people and truly amazing service.
We booked Botanica for the first leg of our honeymoon in San Juan and it was amazing! The space is beautiful. It’s clear that a lot of thought and intention goes into every aspect of the property. The breakfast and fresh juice were delicious every single time, and we loved the yoga each morning. The hospitality of the staff was incredible. They were so kind and thoughtful. You are also located walking distance to bars, food, and coffee as well as two blocks from the beach. We would 100% stay again.
I stayed at Casa Botanica in Puerto Rico for 5 days in mid April, and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. I was looking forward to this trip as it was a joint sister birthday trip for my sister and I. We booked the Botanica Suite and had a terrible stay. From day one, there was no hot water in my room. While the shower was eventually fixed, I had no hot water in the sink for the entire duration of my five day stay. I reported this issue multiple times both in person and via email, but nothing was resolved. To make matters worse, my emails eventually started bouncing back, leaving me with no way to follow up. Also our bathroom mirror was extremely streaky and I brought this up too in email and when our rooms were cleaned it seemed as if the whole bathroom was skipped and not cleaned. On top of that, I was randomly charged $324.85 during my stay with no explanation. It wasn’t until day 4 that I was finally able to speak with a manager and have maintenance come to my room. At that point, I was told the sink would need to be completely replaced to fix the hot water issue, and that the charge was just a “system glitch.” The resolution offered was also disappointing. I was initially offered 10% off my stay, which felt inadequate given I went the entire trip without proper hot water. After pushing back, the manager agreed to 15%, but I was only ever given 10%. I’ve since sent two follow-up emails and have received no response in two weeks. There were a few joys which were mainly the location which was next to the beach and the chef cooked breakfast. We did have yummy vegan breakfast made by the amazing chef and I did enjoy the yoga class. Overall, the lack of basic amenities, poor communication, and unfulfilled promises made this a frustrating experience. I would not stay here again nor recommend to others you will not have warm or hot water. Especially if you are trying to celebrate a joyful occasion.
