Engadine Inn and Cabins

No staff on premises. No WiFi info. SUPPOSED to include breakfast but NOT a soul to be found or morsel when we left at 8:15

Well, we REALLY wanted to like this place...and the place itself is wonderful. Well furnished and clean. But there was no personality from the host...because we never saw the host. We never felt connected to the home. Some dude must have been filling in because although he was nice, he was CLEARLY not a 'host' type person. Our room was lovely, but had some cheap touches...rocker chairs (great idea), but dingy and dirty. Soap dispensers (Victorian style in keeping with the vibe), but resin...and with Dawn dishwashing liquid instead of hand soap!!! No extra blankets for a chilly evening. Fireplace didn't work. Breakfast was basic...omelette with some herbs, sausage (Jones), and basic white bread or bagel, with some Ingles brand pastries/breads on Sunday. No fresh coffee, just a Keurig, no fresh half and half. No offer of a beverage, juice or water, but available when asked for. And the same dude who was doing repairs the first day, swerved us. Who, no fault of his own, was clearly untrained for this task. So, on our last day, I said to the aforementioned dude that I thought the owner must be out of town, because we hadn't met him and we really wanted to know the history of the place since it's a registered historic building. He said the owner WAS there, but he never came out to meet us. As someone else said...it felt more like an Air BnB than a bed and breakfast. I'm giving it 4 stars because the home itself was beautiful and well maintained. Everything else, 3 at best.

Amazing venue for a wide range of different occasions. Cozy cabins, beautiful views, great service. You really couldn’t ask for more. Whether is a multi family get together, or a weekend away for an anniversary, Engadine is the place for you. Can’t wait to get back there!

The Engadine Inn was the perfect spot to celebrate our anniversary. It is conveniently located to all our motorcycle destinations. The owners are friendly and cook a wonderful breakfast.

My Fiancé and I stayed here for our 7th anniversary and were immediately enchanted by the property as we pulled up. Alex greeted us with the customer experience liaisons (baby goats Doe and Ray) and showed us around the Inn. Throughout our stay both Alex and Ward made us feel welcomed and saw to our every need. They gave us a thorough tour and provided amazing anecdotes about the property’s history and future. We can’t wait to go back and plan to do so very soon!

Stayed here for 4 nights with some friends and had an awesome experience. The views were absolutely amazing — easily one of the highlights of the trip. The cabins were super clean and well-kept, which made it feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. The hospitality really stood out too — everyone was friendly, welcoming, and made sure we had everything we needed. Overall, it was the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway with a great mix of scenery and comfort. Would definitely come back!

I recently stayed here and was blown away by the hospitality, accommodations, and views. It is perfect for a small get away or a larger party. The river views were stunning with a mountain back drop. The food was phenomenal and I will definitely be coming back here. The owners were phenomenal and made sure my time there went perfectly.

I had an incredible experience with my friends at this beautiful property. The property owners were also very gracious and welcoming. I would 10/10 recommend for anyone looking for an authentic Blue Ridge Mountains experience in the Asheville area.

If you’re looking for a great location just outside Asheville in the mountains, Engadine is for you. Multiple cabins for big parties, access to river for fishing, they even have baby goats! The food offered at the INN was exceptional. The Owners happen to be on property the weekend we stayed, they were generous, welcoming, and friendly.

I utilized this property for my bachelor party. Not only was the location prime; close enough to the highway but far enough where it’s still quiet and peaceful. The property had a nice mix of mountains and also the creek. The owners of the property were more than I could have asked for. The food which was provided was 5-star restaurant service as well as how quick they were to communicate back. I will definitely plan to go back to this property.

Amazing location with an extremely accommodating and professional staff and beautiful views. I loved the history and natural beauty that Engadine preserves and how the owners take such pride and care of the property. I will delivery be returning with my family.

My husband and I stayed at the Blue Ridge cabin. The place was clean, nicely decorated, and had everything we needed. The views from the cabin were beautiful. Alex and Edward invited my husband, my son, and me for dinner at the Inn one night. The food was excellent and we had a lovely time! We also had a tour of the place and we even saw the new baby goats. We definitely would like to go back.

READ THIS BEFORE YOU BOOK I am completely bewildered by how many 5 star ratings this place got, which makes me wonder if they are paid/phony reviews. We booked the Mount Mitchell Cabin for our 44th Wedding Anniversary hoping to experience a nice, cozy, quiet cabin where we could celebrate. Upon entering the property, there’s a sign directing you to the cabins and a lovely dumpster is the very first thing you see (see photo). We continue driving up to our cabin and it looks nice enough from a distance, however, upon walking up to the door, we begin to suspect maybe it’s not as nice as it looked (see photo of front door). A simple paint job on the door would’ve been nice. Our suspicions were confirmed when we entered the cabin and found old, outdated furniture and a cracked ceiling light with bugs in it (see photo). Hoping the big front porch with rocking chairs overlooking the mountainside would make it better, again we were disappointed. The ceiling fan on the porch was hanging down broken (see photo), the rocking chairs and cushions looked like they had literally been there since 1972 (see photo), the table had not been cleaned (photo), they store their cleaning supplies on the porch (photo) and the worst part?…Hwy 40 is right across from the cabin so “Yay for truck noise!” So much for nice and quiet. And maybe I’m just being super picky, but I went to wash my hands in the kitchen and the prominently displayed hand-soap dispenser was practically empty (yes, I took a photo of that as well). Is that not something the cleaning staff should notice? On top of all that, the communication was lacking. We brought our dog with us (website says dogs allowed) so we asked via text, since they texted us, about a dog friendly restaurant with outdoor seating. There are 173 dog friendly restaurants listed in Asheville, Engadine is 12 miles from Asheville and yet they said “we’re not sure about providing a recommendation, search Asheville”. Not helpful. And lastly, do not think for a second that this place has anything to offer for breakfast despite them calling themselves a bed & breakfast. I asked about breakfast options at 4:23PM after we checked in at 3:30PM. They responded at 7:02AM the next morning only with a detailed text on how to check-out, yet not addressing my question. They did finally respond to my question at 10:30AM (30 minutes before checkout) that a “continental breakfast” is only available for house guests (photo). Apparently this is on the website somewhere, but I guess I missed it. Where’s the “gourmet breakfast” pictured on the website? We will definitely not be staying here again and unless you’re ok with old furniture, dirty tables, broken lights, noisy traffic and an invisible host that can’t recommend restaurants for breakfast or dinner, then I highly suggest you stay someplace else. Paying $368.76 for a check-in time of 3PM and check-out time 11AM (so 20 hours total) just didn’t seem worth it. Anniversary #45 is going to be EPIC someplace else!
