Cheesman Park

Cheesman Park, the green heart of Denver's gayborhood just east of Capitol Hill, has been a gathering place for the city's queer community for decades — and its quieter edges have a long, discreet gay cruising history, mainly in the evenings along the southern and eastern sides. By day it's simply one of Denver's best parks, with mountain views, wide lawns, and the neoclassical pavilion at its center, so treat any cruising as an after-dusk, low-key affair. A few sensible notes: the park officially closes at 11pm and police do patrol, so cruising here is tolerated rather than sanctioned — be discreet, keep to public areas, and never assume privacy. Paths are unlit at night, so bring a light, stay aware of your surroundings, and be respectful of the many residents, dog-walkers, and families who use the park.
