The Stavrand Russian River Valley

Great small boutique property surrounded by redwoods. Quaint and quiet with excellent service. Lots of communal gathering area and great eo read a book with a glass of wine by the fireplace. Pool and hot tub as well but didn't use since it's January but a gorgeous property close to town and part of Hilton. If you are looking for a relaxing wine tasting retreat, this is it. Close to all the vineyards and quick drive to restaurants.

Used a Hilton free night certificate to book the Belden house room for a staycation. As a Hilton Diamond, was upgraded to the Armstrong House which was a great room. They describe it as "The most modern of our three guestroom buildings, Armstrong House offers spacious floorplans, new designer furniture, and renovated wood flooring to complement gas fireplaces and semi-private outdoor decks. Large bathrooms feature Saltillo tile showers with deep soaking tubs, and either a window or skylight to bathe in natural light throughout the day." Definitely hit the mark for boutique hotel and very art deco, stylish, and small/quiet. Loved the free smore's making with the fireplace throughout the night. We skipped the complimentary wine/happy hour. The complimentary breakfast wasn't bad but it was definitely simple and a weak point for a ultra luxurious hotel like this. Food was tasty but simple. Enjoyed the assorted coffee and tea at breakfast and throughout the day at the lobby. The single-serve honey they use is delicious. Didn't use the pool/hot tub although there were folks using it late in the night since they don't enforce the closing time too strictly. Utilized the complimentary bike rental which could have used a little maintenance. The brakes/gears were a little rough. In addition they were super accommodating with a 2pm late checkout which allowed us to bike over to the Armstrong Redwoods and back before heading back south.

My wife and I (plus our 2 large dogs) stay here for New Years. It was an outstanding experience. The location is conveniently located near the town of Guerneville. Our larger than normal room included a hot tub. The hotel is quiet, clean, and the service was wonderful. We had new years eve dinner here too. The dinner was a 5 star experience. We plan to come back when the weather is sunny.

What a true gem! Location is perfect, easy walk to downtown, gorgeous space, but the best part was the absolutely INCREDIBLE staff. We stayed for a long weekend for my brothers wedding and they were simply the best staff. You can tell they truly care about the guests. Can’t wait to go back!

Absolutely delightful stay at the Stavrand! We were upgraded to a gorgeous fireplace room and welcomed with prosecco, cheese, and chocolate. Be sure to book dinner at the hotel! The food, service, and atmosphere were all phenomenal. We walked to downtown for dinner, visited shops and antique stores, made a day trip to the coast, and read books by the outdoor fire pits. After a long day of travel it was such a pleasure to be warmly greeted by such a gracious staff. The fire was going, wine was offered and our heavy bags were lifted from our car and carried to our room. Every moment at this charming hotel felt like a combination of being a guest in a fabulous home and a restful Four Seasons retreat. The meals were delicious, the shower, hot tub, bed and closet space were ample and comforting. The staff was incredibly accommodating to help make our time in Gurniville valuable.. from the use of the ample property paths and vistas to local restaurants, walking, hiking and interests. We will be back.. next time with the whole family!

I am not sure how many starts I should add to their review. First off, me and my friend experienced other five starts hotels and we read reviews about this place. However, we been in different places which have only 3 starts and they are better then this place. Hotel is nice but we have to do downstairs and sleep in a tiny room. Second, Happy hour, they got out of white wine and I ended up drinking red. She said “this is the only available at this moment” third, complimentary breakfast was a joke. A toast or a pankage? Something else you have to pay for it. People were friendly but if I go back there I would rather pay a hotel downtown with same service for less price. I wish they can work on this issues. Oh forgot last thing.. they don’t even change sheets or bring clean towels and when we ask them about it they say.. it’s because they are saving water or something.. they bring clean towel at 8pm as requested but otherwise you have to sleep with same sheets if you don’t say anything.. This is my review and experience.

I’m not sure how this is considered a “luxury” hotel. The old house used for check-in smells and looks like my grandmother’s old house. From the outside the rooms look like a YMCA camp I attended along the coast in my teens. Inside- the rooms are fine but not luxurious at all. Wouldn’t’ return in the future.

Passing through the area and found the Stavrand via google maps. Called and talked to Mia and she was great right from the start. Offered to let us view the available rooms and choose the one that best fit our needs. Cameron stepped in when we arrived and did just that, gave a tour and let us see the 4 available rooms, so we were able to pick the best one for us. Cameron was very helpful and kind and the whole staff was amazing. The property and the room were beautiful, full of old world charm and elegance. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to return in the future. Great property and great team. Thanks for a great stay!

This is a beautiful hotel, and the staff could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. But we do feel like it fell short of our expectations, given what we read online and the price point. Everything reads online that this is a "luxury hotel" and the price reflects that. I would set the expectation for more of a bed-and-breakfast feel, not just because of the layout but also the lack of amenities. 1. We stayed in the Belden house. The room was gorgeous, clean and the bed was comfortable. Even though we were on the top floor, noise does travel from other parts of the house. It wasn't terribly bothersome, but we did wake up to the commotion downstairs and babies crying a few times. 2. The pool area is small but very pretty under the trees. There is no spa or sauna. Hot tub temp is very moderate. Pool was too chilly for my liking (in Sept) 3. There is no full bar or bartender, and the restaurant is open for very limited hours and with very few options. Breakfast included actually means that three items are offered complementary and the rest will cost you. There is no room service. 3. The hotel does not have beach access. The kayaks for use need to be transported to the river, either on your own car or by mounting a soft top. The river is about a 15min walk away which is pleasant. (We ended up doing this walk to-and-from town quite a bit.) By far our favorite part was the garden and orchard. Beautiful and bountiful! We picked apples, pears and figs. It is a lovely place, but again, I would adjust expectations for more of a homey bed-and-breakfast experience rather than a luxury hotel. We booked it for the weekend imagining relaxing mostly on-site and that was difficult. We wanted to love it, but at this price, we expected more of a treat.

The best kept secret in the North Bay/Bay Area. A quaint, picturesque and serene place to have a weekend getaway. A home away from home. The attention to detail and personal touches from the incredible staff made our stay a memorable one. They had an activity book with coloring pencils waiting for our 5 year old at Breakfast (and here we were thinking that somebody else was being seated at the table).
