Huntington Beach LGBTQ Resource Center

The Huntington Beach LGBTQ Resource Center is a local, volunteer-driven group working to give queer residents and visitors a visible point of connection in a city that has not always made room for them. It grew out of the local PFLAG speakers' network as community members organised in response to city-hall decisions that stripped away Pride recognition, and it now serves as an informal hub for referrals, peer support and community events. Because it is small and grassroots rather than a bricks-and-mortar centre, the group operates primarily online and through partner venues, pointing people toward counselling, youth and family support, and the larger LGBTQ Center Orange County in nearby Santa Ana. For travellers it is most useful as a way to plug into the real, resilient queer community that exists in Huntington Beach beyond its beaches and surf culture.
