Über diesen Ort The Center (GLCC of Southern Nevada)

It is usually a pretty welcome environment but today was scary. I was about to apply cosmetics in the bathroom and the security guard was very grumpy and rude. He treated me like a criminal but I did not know that applying cosmetics was against the rules. It was an honest mistake. I apologized the the front desk and they just laughed at me. It was humiliating and at least the guard could have treated me to an "excuse me" or a softer tone. This place scares me now because I feel embarrassed and nervous that I have a bad reputation to the staff. All from an honest mistake.

Great staff, great service. Not only is testing free but I was amazed by all the extra services they have. So important to have them help out not only the community but everyone.

My concerns also involve the LA LGBT Center’s Senior Services Center, Legal Services Center, and executive leadership. I attempted to obtain help from Senior Services leadership, including Kira Pollack, Director of Senior Services, but she never responded in any meaningful way. My concerns specifically include the Senior Services Center because I contacted Kira Pollack seeking help and follow-up, but I received no substantive acknowledgment, guidance, or referral to appropriate resources. That lack of response is especially troubling because my concerns involved senior-related support, legal hardship, disability-related barriers, and ongoing matters affecting my stability and access to help. When someone reaches out to the Director of Senior Services at an LGBTQ organization, especially after years of being told they are blocked, banned, or restricted, a professional response should be expected. Silence from Senior Services Center leadership only reinforced the broader pattern of dismissiveness and exclusion I have experienced from the Center. My concerns also involve the Legal Services Center. I came to the Legal Services Center for help regarding serious legal, educational, disability-related, and personal matters, including issues connected to my doctorate and lawsuits I am now having to pursue. Instead of meaningful assistance, clear communication, or appropriate referrals, I experienced the same dismissive pattern. I also escalated my concerns to executive leadership. I wrote to the CEO and also to another senior-level woman in leadership, seeking clarification, accountability, and assistance. Despite reaching out to higher leadership, I did not receive a meaningful response. Despite multiple attempts to communicate and seek assistance, I received no meaningful guidance, explanation, or referral from the Senior Services Center, Legal Services Center, or executive leadership. This failure to engage left me feeling ignored and unsupported during a period when I was actively seeking help and clarification regarding services and access. As a PsyD honors graduate candidate, I understand the importance of trauma-informed communication, ethical responsiveness, and respectful handling of vulnerable community members seeking assistance. The Center’s handling of this matter has not reflected those standards.
