There are great restaurants, and then there are restaurants that remind you what true hospitality is supposed to feel like.
Last Saturday, I finally had the opportunity to celebrate my dad's long-overdue Father's Day after weeks of trying to coordinate everyone's schedules. My dad has recently been on an Old Fashioned kick, so after hearing incredible things about Redbird and that they had multiple variations of Old Fashioned's, I made a reservation hoping to give him a memorable evening.
What I didn't expect was that the experience would begin long before we ever walked through the front doors.
From the moment I booked our reservation, Olivia, the hostess, made us feel like honored guests rather than just another reservation on the books. She answered my questions in real time via text, helped ensure we would have beautiful seating in the rooftop dining room for my dad's celebration, explained the parking options and payment process, and did it all with such warmth, professionalism, and genuine kindness. She became the very first impression of Redbird, and she absolutely set the tone for what would become one of the finest dining experiences my family has ever shared.
When we arrived, every member of the staff we passed greeted us with genuine smiles and professionalism as we were escorted through one of the most beautiful restaurant spaces I've visited in Los Angeles. Every detail felt intentional.
Then came David.
I sincerely wish I had gotten the names of every member of the team because everyone contributed to making the evening exceptional, but David deserves special recognition. He was attentive without ever hovering, personable without feeling scripted, knowledgeable, incredibly efficient, and somehow always seemed to appear exactly when we needed something. He anticipated needs before we had to ask and made every interaction feel effortless.
As someone who deeply values world-class customer service, I couldn't help but admire how naturally he created an experience rather than simply serving a table.
The food was outstanding and absolutely lived up to the reputation. Every plate was beautifully presented, perfectly timed, and genuinely delicious. The Old Fashioned's were exceptional, which made my dad incredibly happy, and seeing him enjoy every moment of the evening made the entire experience priceless for our family.
But what truly sets Redbird apart isn't just the food.
It's the people. It's the culture. It's the attention to detail that cannot be faked.
From Olivia's thoughtful communication before we even arrived, to David's remarkable service throughout dinner, to every staff member who contributed behind the scenes, every single person made us feel welcomed, celebrated, and genuinely cared for.
In today's world, exceptional hospitality has become increasingly rare. Redbird reminded me what it looks like when an entire team takes pride in creating unforgettable experiences for complete strangers.
To the management team: I hope you know just how special your staff is. Employees like Olivia and David are the reason guests become lifelong customers. They represent your restaurant with professionalism, warmth, and genuine care, and they deserve every bit of recognition for the lasting impression they leave on the people they serve.
Thank you for helping me give my dad a Father's Day celebration our family will remember for years to come.
We'll absolutely be back and next time, it won't be because we're celebrating something special.
It'll simply be because Redbird has become one of those rare places that reminds you exactly what excellence feels like.
