Chelsea Inn Hotel

IF I COULD I’D GIVE 0 STARS ! I booked my dream vacation months in advance - with days to leave for NY they cancelled the reservation- claiming a fire next door! THERE WASN’T ONE!! It was 2MONTHS AGO AT THE HOTEL IN THE BACK- and they waited until 4 days before I leave to tell me!! Do you know how expensive last minute hotel bookings are??? They could not care less about the additional cost incurred or the difficulty of finding another hotel so close to my travel date. I would not waste my time calling them- find a place with some integrity!

They cancelled my reservation which was booked months ahead, without proper explanation. Stay away for your own peace of mind.

Terrible! They cancelled my reservation 5 days before check-in. I was already on my way to the US and they simply wouldn't let me in. And, on top of that, they didn't cancel the reservation on the website, implying that I didn't want to go. Dishonest.

Excellent location, staff were most helpful. The only drawback was the lack of an escalator.

The hotel staff was friendly and very helpful with anything we needed. It’s in a very convenient location close to the union square subway. Everything was clean and neat, and we had absolutely no issues during our stay. Would love to stay there again!

I really wanted to like this place, the employees are great and the place is clean and safe. However, I just tried to wash my hands and...no water. I leave my room to ask about it at the front desk (no small feat considering I'm on the 5th floor and there's no elevator) when I see a notice taped to my door saying that the water is shut off from "8pm to tomorrow". Meanwhile, I am in deep need of a shower and also I guess I can't flush my toilet until sometime tomorrow? You most definitely get what you pay for (though, no matter the price of a hotel, I think running water should be a given).

2/22/2026 I booked a room so it will be convenient for me to be at work the following day due to the snow storm. Here are some of the things you might want to consider if you are planning to stay at Chelsea Inn. I stayed at Room 503 Door #2. Pros: The room is very clean. You have regular bath towels, face towels and the towel that you put on the floor to step on after shower, plus one roll of toilet paper. They have coffee to brew, cups to use with coffee maker and a microwave. You also have a small closet to put in some clothes with a Safe to put your valuables in. The place is warm on this winter night, but if it gets too warm, you can always turn on the AC unit to put the room in your desired temperature. At the lobby, they have Keurig coffee available and some granola snacks. Place is very secured. Cons: Room in itself is very small. The space is just enough to fit a queen size bed, a small walk way to fit a small closet and attach a cabinet with a coffee maker and a microwave. Bathroom is shared, so don’t expect to have a clean toilet and bath if the other room are messy people. There is no elevator, if you happen to have a room on the 5th floor be ready to climb, to my estimate, 50 degree incline and 4 flights of stairs. Good luck to you if you have big and heavy luggage. My advice if you have big luggage, make sure to get a room on the 1st or 2nd floor.

Very bad experience with customer service. I booked and paid for four nights. Owing to upcoming extreme weather conditions for NYC area (the news considered a one-in-ten years blizzard), my flights were cancelled and I had no way of making the trip. I called the hotel many hours before the check in time. Not only did they refuse to offer any refund, they didn’t even give any options to help. I paid for four days well ahead of time, and their total lack of regard for customers remains one of the worst experiences with customer service I ever had. They clearly regard their clients as nothing other than cows to milk for money.

I arrived late as a result of a missed flight, they charged me for both days and didn’t let me stay since they’d marked me as a no show

1. SHARED BATHROOM. To begin with, upon arrival we were told we would have to share a bathroom. I remember booking a single room, and it's supposedly Expedia who changes it (just a heads-up: take a picture if you plan to book at this hotel). 2. NOISE. For the first three nights, there was noise in the room. At first, we thought it was construction. When we complained, they told us it was the pipes and offered no solution other than earplugs. Many people have complained about this, as it's impossible to sleep. Video attached. 3. NO ELEVATOR. There are up to five floors without an elevator, and the stairs are very steep. 4. CLEANING. Cleaning service is not included. You can pay $40-$50 if you want it, otherwise they leave a dirty mop on the first floor. 6. AIR CONDITIONING DOESN'T WORK. Our room was incredibly hot and the air conditioning wasn't working. There's not much more to say. 7. THE WINDOW DOESN'T OPEN. Not being able to ventilate the room even a little, especially in that heat, makes it unbearable. I'm giving it two stars instead of one because of the location. Otherwise, you'll be paying a fortune for no sleep and subpar service.

Rooms are small but i intended to use it for sleep so not a big deal. Currently writing this at 3am as I cannot fall asleep due to the loud banging on the wall from the “basement” as the front desk guy said. He said It was steam coming up from the basement into the vents. He said they fixed it days ago but It came back. He ended up texting the maintenance people to let them know it’s waking people up and disturbing us and It stopped for a few hours after that. Now it’s back at 3am Never again will they see me back. If they knew the room get like this at night, why even give it to us? The rooms are 100, 200, and 203 that makes these sounds. If they give it to you, GET ANOTHER ONE.
