Clean, Friendly, Economical. No issues would stay again.

Such an amazing place to stay. If you get the chance to do William Benton’s tour of the hotel and the artwork - do it. William is the doorman but in reality he is more like a cultural ambassador. The reception staff are also top notch, so willing to help and provide advice. The three restaurants and bar on site are all fantastic too. This place is not just a hotel, not just an historical treasure but a cultural icon and living legend.

I highly recommend this hotel – the location is great, the rooms are spacious, and they're very clean. Our stay was truly comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful, especially Ewa, who was incredibly kind and engaging. We'll definitely be back on our next visit to New York.

I take no pleasure in writing negative reviews, but I had such a depressing experience here that I feel compelled to do so. I lived a few blocks away from the Chelsea Savoy for twenty years, and my family would often stay there when they were in town. The rooms were basic and uninspired, but clean and spacious, the equivalent of a dependable Holiday Inn. Something has clearly changed in the last decade, because the room I received during my recent visit looked like a room in an SRO hotel (and I should know: I lived in an SRO on 23rd & Lex when I first moved to NYC in '97) ... The windows were filthy, the heat/AC unit was noisy, the room itself was very small, what furniture there was was decrepit, the bathroom was poorly cleaned (hair in the tub, etc), the bathtub faucet leaked water onto the floor in a steady stream, the only outlets were one power strip glued to the desk, one lamp didn't work, the pillows were the hardest I've ever encountered in my life ... You get the point. I will say, the staff was polite & friendly, and when I asked if there was perhaps another, better room, I was readily shown another room that was essentially the same, the only difference is that it looked out over an air shaft rather than 23rd Street, which was somehow more depressing, so I stayed put. I will also add that there were no bugs that I could see, another small consolation. I would not have written this review if I hadn't found another hotel (Pestana Park Ave) that was only nominally more expensive (Savoy was approx. $350/night while the Pestana was approx. $425 with their free-to-join rewards program), and while the room was the same small size, the Pestana was 1,000% better in every way: spotlessly clean, modern, plenty of lights & outlets, great temperature control system, well-laid out for an efficiency, great morning coffee & breakfast service, and my room was on the 27th floor with a small balcony! I'm not particularly price-sensitive, but I am very value-sensitive, and I simply feel like the Savoy no longer offers any value for the money, there are clearly other, far better options in Manhattan at just about the same price-point.

The hotel is a good value, location is central. Rooms a little spartan, but clean. Breakfast bagels and muffins fresh. Coffee could be improved. Staff is friendly, welcoming. It's not fancy, rooms are small, but it has what you need. Breakfast area is nice. This hotel is charming, I would stay again.

We really enjoyed the Chelsea Hotel. The rooms, decor and rooftop fitness room are small although really great all around! Great place to meet up with friends too.

This is the CLEANEST hotel I've stayed in across the country. Our room, the elevators, lobby, all of it was immaculate. We booked this as a family of 4 and it was the perfect stay. Convenience is what we were looking for & it's what we got. Multiple subway lines within close walking distance, one of which is directly across the street, multiple food choices, and a Target at the end of the block (traveling with kids, you always forget something). This was my first time staying in Chelsea and I don't think I'll stay anywhere else when I come back. The neighborhood is wonderful. If you choose to book here, keep in mind this a budget hotel but the cleanliness and friendly staff make up for the "lacking" amenities. The rooms are basic but have everything you need.
