We Are Family

We Are Family was founded in 1995 and is South Carolina's oldest LGBTQ+ youth organisation. It supports queer and questioning young people up to age 24 with peer groups, mental-health support and gender-affirming resources. In June 2025 it opened a community centre at 3265 N Carolina Ave, which Live 5 News reported as North Charleston's first LGBTQIA+ centre. AFFA and Charleston Pride have offices in the same building. It also runs Closet Case Thrift Store on Reynolds Avenue, which funds its programmes.
