Rooster Rock State Park (Gay/Nude Beach)

Rooster Rock State Park, about 30 minutes east of Portland along the Columbia River in Corbett, holds one of the United States' first officially designated clothing-optional beaches. The gay and nude section is at the far eastern end, reached by a walk downriver from the main family beach, and has been a long-standing summer gathering spot for Portland's queer community. Public nudity is legal on the designated stretch, but sexual activity is not - rangers and county deputies patrol, so keep it discreet and lawful. Bring water and sun cover; the shoreline shifts with the river level.
