Babe's of Carytown

I used to love babes, not so much anymore. My main issue is the amount of men working in this bar on any given night. As a gay man myself, why would you apply to work at the lesbian bar? Also, please find some new DJ’s.

I can’t speak to the food here. I’ll just say I’m not interested in finding out. And I also can’t speak to Babe’s on the weekend. I’ve gone a few times on a Saturday a few years ago and, from what I remember, the music is usually wack. I will, however, be present almost every Wednesday. Through volleyball at Babes, I have found a great community. I can’t help but notice that both line dancing and karaoke also draw massive crowds on Wednesdays. This historic lesbian establishment is a pillar in the community, and I am so grateful to everyone who works there for making it happen.

I was served onion rings in raw batter, which is a health hazard. They were out of the sauce that came with the onion rings (didn’t know before I ordered), I ordered a plate and when the other food arrived, was told what I ordered wasn’t available and I need to get a refund. Drinks are fine, the best thing about this place is the patrons and the bar staff. DO NOT get the food, unless you want to sign up for disappointment and raw batter/salmonella. EDIT to respond to the condescending reply. First off, clearly you can see in the picture the onion ring is raw, I don’t really care how it got to my plate. When I asked for my chicken tenders and was told flatly/rudely that I need to get a refund, I was then told at the bar when I got my refund that most things were out of stock, instead of the staff trying to do anything to improve the situation. I realize businesses get busy. As you admitted, communication to the customers and among the staff is key to provide a standard experience for a patron. Not even excellent, just meeting the bar. Unfortunately, your response deflecting ownership on to a customer is not at all surprising.

Pretty bad. Serves men first, ALWAYS. as a man I can recognize this. This is a lesbian bar ??? I think the owner is a man now which is just weird. They argued with me over happy hour prices and I had to show them their own IG…. There were also dudes doing stuff in the bathrooms which was so unsanitary

It's Babes. It's home. It's your local comfort spot and always delivers an uplifting special experience. The love is all up in there no matter when you go. The LGTBQIA community (and straight) love coming here because it's so accepting and full of love and no judgement. Dancing, pool tables, drag shows, evnets and good happy hour specials. Last time I went (on a Saturday), even standing in line outside was an incredible life changing experience of laughs and lifelong connections and memories.

All the other reviews have hit the nail on the head. This place corny. Cover charge at 8? No reentry? Watered down drinks? How uptight can you run a business Response back to Owner - I don’t care if it’s “standard practice” you decide conjure up and hide behind. Maybe hire more staff with the cover charge you’re asking of patrons starting at 8pm? You are lucky lesbians need a safe spaces but your practices are purely lazy, and predatory at worst. What are you actually offering here? It’s pathetic your bar has the audacity but can’t even produce a martini. Thanks for passively aggressively pointing out that I’m not a fit for your establishment. How condescending of you. This serves as a warning to future patrons of how YOU have decided to conduct your business. Just do better Babes. Don’t need ur lazy excuses. But I doubt you will respond this because you’ll just see it as “business as usual” instead of taking the constructive criticism and doing better by the community. Such a shame
