Outstanding stay! So much to love! Huge suite and so tastefully decorated! The hotel is dog friendly and sits adjacent to a beautiful historical park with statues in the center of Richmond. In the end I forgot our bags in the lobby and manager Laura Shirooni went out of her way to ensure they were shipped to us! We are so appreciative! Also Quan was an excellent host and bartender in the hotel bar. We enjoyed the happy hour pricing and selections! A five star stay in every way!

Great location, but overpriced for a poorly maintained property. Best to stay elsewhere. Our suite was spacious but worn, dated, and in need of some deep cleaning and maintenance. Our view of the Capitol grounds was lovely, but hard to see through the filthy windows. Because there is no air conditioning in the bedroom, it was difficult to get it to a comfortable temperature. The bedroom door must be left open between it and the living area AC set as low as possible. Damaged furniture, walls, and bathroom fixtures made the suite feel neglected. Staff were somewhat pleasant, but not particularly welcoming or helpful.

The Commonwealth is a very nice, historical hotel, in the perfect location in Richmond! Walkable to the canal and bars and restaurants, and right across the street from the Capitol grounds. A big plus is they are dog friendly as well! We used The Commonwealth for our wedding room block, and the team was wonderful to work with. They were very accommodating, and everyone’s experience was positive! Highly recommend for everyone traveling through Richmond!

Prime location next to the park. And I don’t think there is a better placement if you have a dog. Service is friendly. Juan in particular. The food in the restaurant is quite good especially considering the prices. I only have one problem with it. The lighting. The restaurant has blazing bright lights (think of a Walmart). I asked them to turn it down and the bartender said he turned it down a bit. This bar/restaurant could be a a real gem if it weren’t for the crazy bright lights.

The hotel itself was very good as far as the room and location of the Supreme Court of Virginia. The service was lacking as I requested an early check in and after arriving at the hotel was told that was not available. This was a very important day and the person at the front desk didn't know how to make it happen. We wound up having to change in the lobby restrooms. Unexectable.

It was a very nice setting. The decor is amazing and the rooms are spacious. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I will definitely stay here in the future.

The Commonwealth hosted guests for a wedding and from the first phone call to the time of checkout, their service was WONDERFUL! Sarah and Laura were great to work on the details and Javon and Eric were two of the nicest people I’ve ever met (front desk and valet). You WILL NOT be disappointed with any aspect of your stay! We will definitely be back!!! It’s the ONLY place I’ll stay when I’m back in Richmond! Many thanks!

Great historic alternative to the big chain hotels. Our suite was spacious and beautifully decorated.

Spacious room, friendly staff. Convenient downtown location - walking distance to restaurants and Richmond conference center. The only downside is small gym and no swimming and business space. The attached restaurant is not a good option.

The room was spectacular. The first room the ac didn't function so they transferred us to another room... both were beautiful and super clean.

Rooms are HUGE, beds are comfortable and the valet/staff are beyond friendly & amazing. The hotel is just a couple of blocks from the Library of Virginia and there is a lovely park area just across the way that leads to the Capitol grounds.

This is my second visit to the Commonwealth Hotel. Highly recommend for the gracious experience by staff and amenities.
