These people should be helping people get out of poverty and get on their feet
My recent experience reaching out to the YWCA in Seattle for help with health insurance enrollment was very disappointing. My first email went unanswered, and when I finally received a call from Sharece, the conversation left me feeling frustrated and unheard. For women in shelters or unstable housing, clear and timely communication isn’t optional—it’s essential. Navigating health insurance is already confusing, and many women rely on organizations like the YWCA to guide them through the process. Women experiencing homelessness often face major barriers when trying to access healthcare, including missing information, confusing systems, and inconsistent support. Women dealing with trauma, chronic stress, or domestic violence need steady, trauma‑informed communication to feel safe and supported. That’s why this experience was so concerning. A lack of follow‑up and an unexpected, unhelpful phone call can make someone feel discouraged or even give up on getting the care they need. For an organization serving vulnerable women, this communication gap can have real consequences. The YWCA needs to review and improve its communication with clients. Simple steps—like responding to emails, following clear communication protocols, and training staff in trauma‑informed practices—could make a huge difference for the women who depend on them. I hope they take these issues seriously, because the women they serve deserve better support and better communication.
The staff here is the rudest I've ever encountered. Additionally I manage a business next to this YWCA and we have issues daily with their residents who often times will yell racial obscenities to staff and customers as well as damaging property. This YWCA has caused tons of issues with neighboring businesses and they refuse to address this with their tenants. Cops are here weekly and we have also called the police multiple times to trespass residents from the YWCA.
YWCA was okay I feel like they could help me better. I feel like they just gave me the run around. I can give a four Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐ rating for their reviews.
They saved my life. I'm glad that caseworker helped with introducing them to me. Never knew they existed until now. The units are renovated.
