Political Grief Workshop

Are you or have you been an activist for LGBTQI rights? Are you struggling with grieving the significant losses our community is continuing to experience? If so, you may be searching for a place where you can explore your grief and share with like-minded individuals.

Join us for Southern Arizona Senior Pride’s six-session learning and support workshop facilitated by Corinne Lightweaver and Beth Eisenberg. We will grieve our losses together through readings, writing prompts, and discussion. We will strengthen our emotional, creative, political, and spiritual resources to build community and decide next steps to take individually and collectively.

Space is limited to 10 participants. Please plan on attending all 6 sessions. We will provide digital copies of The Political Grief Toolkit by Dr. Brad Carter and Jeremy Pierce. There is a suggested sliding-scale donation of up to $40 (about $6 per weekly session) to help cover the cost of the downloadable Political Grief Toolkit each participant will receive, supplies, and room rental.

About the facilitators: 

Corinne Lightweaver (she/her) is a former LGBTQ journalist-activist who has both worked and volunteered in LGBTQ nonprofits. She is excited about the potential for self-empowerment of workshop participants through gaining knowledge and creating community. She is an artist, writer, sewist, and advocate for mental health.

Beth Eisenberg moved to Tucson full time four years ago after several years of snow birding from a very small town in Western, Massachusetts. She had lived there and worked as a Clinical Social Worker for over 40 years, primarily with groups. She loves living in Tucson, particularly because of the vibrancy of the LGBTQI+ community, and the lack of snow is also compelling!
