The Painted Lady

Door code required reset, had to call since not desk service. Loud hallways. Every guest coming up steps and down hall was loud because No carpet in the halls. Lots of light leaks around room door, so not dark. Shower pressure was very low, nearly a dribble. Soft bed, which is fine if you like that. But nice and clean, so a mixed bag.

This place is so great. The rooms are charming and super super clean. The staff is beyond friendly and helpful and you can walk to a ton of stuff right out the door. I would go back there in a minute!

Was an excellent experience, staff was friendly and location was perfect. Staff helped us with local recommendations and nashville! Helped me and my girlfriend take our stuff down. Would stay again in a heart beat. Incredibly comfortable beds.

Excellent and beautiful hotel. Super Clean, staff are very nice and rooms are artistic and cool looking. I would recommend this to anyone staying in Birmingham!

LOW value for the money - overpriced for limited offerings NO lobby, gym/fitness offerings NO elevator if you have issues with stairs - if you choose to stay request 2nd floor only Limited breakfast offering - 1 coffee machine with granola bars and Quaker Oats packages

As a native Birmingham-ian listen when I say, this place is where you need to stay when visiting The Magic City. Historic building and make sure to look up or ask about what its prior use was.

We stopped in Birmingham on our way to New Orleans for a night and stayed at the Painted Lady and we were absolutely thrilled with our stay!! This funky, pet friendly boutique hotel was fantastic in every way. We had secure parking for our car for the night and it's located in a very up and coming part of town, a short walk from a host of restaurants and cocktail & wine bars. We will definitely be staying there again and look forward to further exploring Bham!!

Without a code for the entrance door and room, even the most beautiful wallpaper is useless. It took a while to sort that out. Breakfast can hardly be called breakfast. The air conditioning in the room couldn't be adjusted, only the fan. The windows could only be opened a crack. All in all: This hotel is totally overrated. The price-performance ratio is really unacceptable.

My husband and I stayed here in Oct/Nov 2025 because we had our wedding reception across the street at Lumi. My in laws booked a couple of the rooms and we stayed in Madame Lou's room. Our bed was super comfortable and the room was so beautiful to get ready in for our big day. The staff even left us a nice welcome/congratulations gift and note. It was so lovely - we highly recommend!

Such a fun vibe at this place. Cool wallpaper on our rooms. Location is minutes away from great restaurants and bars. The staff greeted us at the door with smiles. The bed was soft and the shower was hot. Ill be recommending it to everyone I know.
