A League of Her Own

This is not a safe place. The staff are unprofessional and not trained well if at all. The first time I came the "door person" stuck her whole leg out in front of me on the 3 stairs to the door while I was coming down the stairs and I casually addressed it with her right then and there - I spoke to a manager about it after that and he VERY oddly took me downstairs to confront her again, putting me in an awkward position. I simply told her that I don't think she should be sticking her leg out in front of people coming down the stairs because its not safe - the staff member became immediately defensive and aggressive, she escalated it immediately, made personal attacks on my character, made up ridiculous excuses for herself and then suggested we fight - which I declined of course and walked away. This was incident #1. I was SA'd on NYE there by another customer. I reported it to the security manager and then Dave, the owner, after filing my police report. Dave's immediate response (via text) was to attack my character - by referencing Incident #1 - irrelevant and unrelated. He used knowledge of me reporting incident #1 to undermine my credibility in reporting the SA 2 weeks after it occurred. He then tried to undermine my credibility by suggesting that I drank too much (I had not, and anyways, if I had why did his bartenders keep selling me drinks?) He NEVER apologized or expressed any concern for me. He never asked if I was okay. He never offered to review footage from security cameras. He did not agree to preserve security footage upon my request, and only agreed to communicate when the police reached out to him. This was a disgusting way for this man to handle a report of SA in his bar. Dave engaged in textbook victim-blaming and made it clear he does not care about patron safety. Dave prioritized defending his staff and his business reputation. His response demonstrated a complete lack of understanding of how to handle sexual assault reports and a willingness to re-traumatize victims rather than take responsibility or take any basic steps to help.

Worst gay bar I went to in DC. Came in from out of town, was excited since it was a roughly themed sports-lesbian bar. The bartenders were inattentive and very loud. Had to shout over them multiple times just to talk to my girlfriend on the bar stool next to me, to the point I had to move to the opposite side of the establishment. Got especially ticked off when both of the bartenders decided to stand in front of the TV and block my view while the women's basketball game was on. Do that at any male sports bar and you would get cussed out. The map of lesbian bars is also really outdated, missing a lot of new bars that opened (Danis in Boston), and a lot of them that have closed down. Also the bathroom not having a door so close to the kitchen is so disgusting. Never coming here again, there are so many better gay bars in the neighborhood.

Had a great time. Very nice atmosphere to drink and talk with friends.

Affordable shots, beautiful spaces!! Different rooms were playing different music. The main floor had an option to request a song. I didn't love the music selection though, it was hard to keep a vibe going. When the room is fully packed, there wasn't much you could do but stand around, and where we did have some dancing room, the music was all wack. Anyway, love lesbians and hope to come back for a better time!!

me and my friends had a horrible experience. this is not a safe space at all. we were treated with so much hostility from a female security. she slammed the door on our faces TWICE. she said this wasn’t an entrance even tho the door was visibly open. she didn’t say where the actual entrance was or anything just straight up rude and disrespectful. i don’t recommend this place to anybody at all.

So my friends and I went here after hearing how welcoming they’d be….they were not. I don’t know what happened but the female security slammed the door in our faces instead of communicating why we couldn’t enter through the door that was visibly open. Definitely not a safe space and they need to do better because other people saw what she did and was in equal shock.
