The hotel has a great location, and it looks nice and stylish. The room is also large and comfortable, and overall, the hotel makes a good first impression. Plus, there's a subway nearby for getting around, which is a huge help. However, several important details made the stay less than ideal. In our room, we only had hot water because the cold water tap was turned off due to a leak. Also, the air conditioning only worked on the cooling setting. When we arrived, with temperatures near 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit), it wasn't a problem, but then we had two days of 5°C (41°F) and 2°C (36°F) and no heating. That was quite uncomfortable. It's also not cheap. Another point to consider is that the staff only speaks English, so if you're not very fluent, it can be quite difficult. And while other hotels usually leave complimentary water during housekeeping, here they charge $10 USD for a bottle, which I found excessive. In short, the hotel has good things, but those details —some small and others not so small— mean that the experience is not up to the level of what they charge.

What a huge disappointment! In every aspect of our stay. I will keep it short and just give you the highlights or nightmare issues. It started when we checked in and our room was truly uninhabitable. The headboard was made of leather and it was ripped and torn so badly that I had to put a sheet up to not get flakes of leather on us while laying in the bed. It was a ridiculously busy weekend in DC that week. I would’ve never stayed at the hotel otherwise I would’ve asked to check out immediately. The bathroom had such dirt and buildup in the corners of every place in the bathroom. It was disgusting. You are required to pay a historical hotel fee each night on top of the other resort fees that you’ve already paid. The final kickoff was we had a family emergency back in Florida and had to leave one day early. Now remember, it’s a super packed weekend so it’s not like they were dying to fill the place. We had told them the night before and they said they would talk to the manager in the morning. When we finally left in the morning, the woman at the front desk, said after we told her of our nightmares, stay that she would absolutely approve the refund of the last night we did not use. I booked through a third-party, Paisley, and the woman said I had to contact them. When I did, they reached back out to the hotel and the hotel refuse the refund. I called back to ask what the problem was and the manager. Aaron said he understood and apologized and would send my refund. It has now been almost 4 weeks I have contacted him and left messages. Two different occasions with no answer. There are so many beautiful amazing hotels in the DC area do not waste your time at this one.

One, if not the best hotel I’ve been in! The service is great and they are welcoming and kind! The rooms are cleaner than a new car and they treat you with many amenities. It’s in a great location too, and is a short walk from the Mall. I would highly recommend coming to this place.

The location is the only positive here. The room was so outdated, I’m not sure how they can call it a 4 star hotel. It also smelled really old and musty.
