Thailand is the most LGBTQ+ friendly country in Southeast Asia. Social acceptance is high, particularly in Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai and Phuket. Public affection between same-sex couples is no issue in tourist and central urban areas.

Bangkok (Silom Soi 2 and Soi 4 — the densest gay nightlife area in Asia), Pattaya (Boyztown and Sunee Plaza), Chiang Mai (a quieter alternative scene), and Phuket (Patong's Paradise Complex). Koh Samui has a smaller seasonal scene.
Bangkok Pride is held in early June. Pattaya, Chiang Mai and Phuket also host smaller Pride events. Songkran (the Thai New Year, mid-April) attracts huge LGBTQ+ attendance to Bangkok and Pattaya for street water-fights and gay circuit parties.
