Health Development Initiative (HDI Rwanda)

Health Development Initiative (HDI) is a Kigali-based NGO founded in 2005 that works on public health and human rights. Its LGBTQ+ programmes include HIV prevention and testing, peer education, mental-health and psychosocial counselling, and legal support for people facing discrimination or violence because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Same-sex relations are not criminalised in Rwanda, but social attitudes are conservative. Because HDI is a general health organisation, contacting it draws little attention. It is not a social venue.
