VietPride Ho Chi Minh City 2026

VietPride is Vietnam’s biggest annual LGBTQ+ event. It started in Ho Chi Minh City in 2012 and now happens in several cities, a public show of queer community that’s become one of Southeast Asia’s most visible. The Ho Chi Minh City version, in August, is the largest, drawing the most international visitors.

Vietnam’s rules mean VietPride can’t be a traditional street parade. Instead, it’s built around “social rides”—people on bicycles and motorbikes moving through District 1. They’re festive, easy to spot, and they become a public procession. There's also a week of community events, cultural stuff, parties, and fundraisers. This ride format works. It’s a creative, adaptable way to be seen in public, very Vietnamese.

In 2026, it runs the first two weeks of August. The social ride is the main visual event. Riders gather in a District 1 public square, then move through the streets, bikes decorated, rainbow flags flying, people in everything from subtle community gear to full festival costumes. Afterward, there’s a gathering at a specific venue with music and performances. Lush throws the official Pride Night party on Saturday evening. It’s the week's biggest single event, bringing in people from all over Vietnam and abroad.

VietPride week also includes: film screenings of Vietnamese and international LGBTQ+ cinema; health and wellness events put on by HCMC's LGBTQ+ groups; drag shows and live performances; and forums that talk about the policy issues facing LGBTQ+ people in Vietnam. It’s a mix of celebration and advocacy, showing the movement’s maturity. VietPride isn’t just a party. It’s an annual statement about the community’s presence and its ongoing fight for legal recognition.

If you’re coming for VietPride 2026, book a hotel in District 1 early. August is rainy season in Ho Chi Minh City—expect afternoon showers that clear by evening—so outdoor events might shift their schedule. The social ride usually starts late afternoon to avoid the worst heat. Check VietPride’s official social media for confirmed dates and events closer to August.

Heads up: the 2025 VietPride parade in Saigon was called off just days before the march, and organizer ICS has not yet announced 2026 dates. Check the ICS Center Facebook page before planning your trip around it.
